its sad, but true. With the algo in place, the biggest competition any quality seo firm faces is the black hat spammers.. but as you said, its only temporary and only the quality white hat methods will retain retain retain :thumbsup

The tools arent the issue, it is the users.

I'd like to see some information on SEOing large web sites, with many many pages.

In that case, make sure it is silo structured and point about 95% of the links to the homepage.

Study your analytics and point the other 5% at your top 10 pages receiving traffic.
