Youtube and bandwidth!
 

So many times I go to youtube and the video I want to see is not loading
and has to keep pausing. Sucks when it's a song I want to hear.

I check my download speed, so it's youtube.

watch one of the "featured" ad placed videos , they go fast, seems they are restricting bandwidth on videos that don't make them money :)

I agree with you. Those bastards that are providing the entire PLANET with free bandwidth to host their fight videos, cute kid videos, cats spinning on a ceiling fan, fat frat guys drinking flaming shots and burning their crotches, old ladies fighting, Rick Astley videos... fuck, they should be FUCKING ASHAMED at themselves for not bumping up their game.

If you ever tried to watch pirated movies from youku (the Chinese version of youtube) you would have experienced what really slow load times are...

I do that, but then I wonder what am I paying for high speed internet for.

I could pay ten grand a month for high speed and still not load the video
if the website is dragging.

That dilemma applies to tons of video sites, you're simply at the mercy of their server and it doesn't matter how fast your connection is. Just open up several videos you want to see in multiple browser tabs and continue doing other things until each one is buffered enough.

The link I gave you should help give a clue about what is going on. Another thing to try might be to set up a restricted proxy (or even a VPN) on your server and then try visiting Youtube through that. This could potentially solve some issues though not others.

Too much trouble for the number of youtube videos that I watch.

On another note : The most popular videos on youtube usually don't
interest me at all. I have no clue why so many people like certain things.

I mean, some videos are just some dumb MoFo talking, I can go outside
and hear that already. Why use a computer for that? :1orglaugh
