Failure is impossible for high school students!

What would school have been like if you never had to worry about getting an F?

Fucking idiots, more on same line as you can't spank your kids, now they don't even get a F for not doing their work. All this is doing is teach kids a bad lesson in life.

This is really all about money. Schools get funding based on how high their student's test scores are and how many kids they advance from grade to grade This allows schools to not fail anyone so they get paid more.

Case in point. My brother's son failed all but 2 classes in 8th grade yet he still "graduated" and was told by the school that they wouldn't hold him back unless the parents told them to. Instead of having criteria that you have to meet to graduate 8th grade, most school advance every student so that they have high "graduation rates and get the most money they they can from the feds.

It is sad. all we are dong is setting these kids up to fail in the real world.

I pretty much agree with what you said but how does this really change anything? It just means the an I = an F now. If someone has straight I's does that mean they still pass because it's not F's? That would be stupid (I didn't read the article)..

I think it would be better for students to see I's on their report card instead of F's. The whole notion of "Fail" or "Failure" might not exactly be the best kind of term to use and might make someone feel like a loser or something. Yeah that should make them get off their ass but todays kids are so babied they would probably become emo if they see an "F".

The way I understood the article is that an I would be used instead of an F then the student would have the option of going back and finishing the work needed to pass the class and get an actual grade at another time. It looked like there was no real time frame so in your senior year you could finish up classes that you got I's in your freshman year.

In theory this will increase the graduation rate because if you were to have gotten an F you would have to take the whole class over. Now you can just finish up a few assignments or make up a few tests and pass the class without having to do it over again.

How about these parents take the time with their kids and make sure they are doing their work at home not just thinking everything is taken care of in school

School must have lines of pass and failure
