Femjoy.com & Joymii.com closing down affiliate accounts with no sales

This is the email I got yesterday from Femjoy:

"Hello,

My name is Ruben from femjoy.com and joymii.com and I am your new affiliate administrator!

I notice that you have made very few sales in the last six months and we’d like to see that increase. What can we do to help? We have a bunch of resources for you so I’m here to help.

If I do not hear back from you by next week, we’ll assume you’re no longer interested in promoting, and will close your affiliate account with us. You can re-open it in the future if you chose to start promotion again."

Best regards,

Ruben Salcedo
Affiliate administrator
femjoy.com // joymii.Hello,

It seems to imply that if you reply within a week the account could remain open but I don't think that is even clear.

I replied telling them that I am not currently updating the blogs but I am still sending them traffic and I don't want the account closed because it is costing Femjoy ZERO dollars having me as affiliate and I worked many hours putting up those links, so far I have not heard anything back from them.

I am crossing fingers that my email did not go to the spam folder as the affiliate account will be closed within days if they fail to read it and all links I have to them will no longer make any money when a sale is made. I find it bizarre that they will allow me to reopen a new account with a new affiliate code after they close down the old one, but if they close it, that will be the last one I open with them for sure.

This does not look a lifetime income to me, it looks like a sixth months without sales and your links will be dead. And for the record, I have sold a few Femjoy memberships in the past.

I understand why you ask that, I thought it was a joke myself and totally unexpected from a big company like Femjoy. But the reply email address is "affiliates @femjoy.com" email address, if it was fake they would have already told me since I emailed them.

This is really bad from their part, I have sponsors with no sales that I rarely promote and not once they came up with this BS. I have gotten scammed in the past and I have seen sponsors closing down, which is fair enough, but this is the first time something like this happens. And that from a company getting a little traffic from my sites and I have sold memberships for.

I've had the same from met-art. In fact there wasn't even a warning, the account was just deactived. Not sure why you wouldn't just leave a dormant ccbill affiliate account alone.

about half a year ago smth similiar happend to me but it was kind of my fault: when i was learning about business i've signed upt o met-art 2 or 3 times, they closed two completely inactive accounts (never send any traffic by it) but it took them like 10 years to do this :D
i've emailed them and the lady answer they would never close any account that is sending any traffic and asked me if i want those old accounts to be reopened. different approach and like i said different situation.

Let's see this from a positive view: they offer communication and support. Yes, it might be bothersome for some, but I find it acceptable.

Many mainstream programs like Clickback will charge affiliates for not making sales. They deduct a couple of Dollars from your unpaid balance until your account goes to zero.

@druid66

I will wait a week, nothing to lose, but I don't hold my breath because I am a small affiliate. If they close my account I pull their links. At the end of the day if I am not worth to be an affiliate then they should not mind me to stop sending them traffic.

@faxaff

Femjoy is not using clickbank, they are using CCBill and do not have to pay anything for each affiliate that signs up with them. I would find this acceptable if they let you know when you first sign up with them, but it is not acceptable that after over five years of promoting them they now come out with this BS.

I makes me rethink the business model, if sponsors close your account for having few sales it basically means you can forget about working on this if you are a small affiliate.

Makes sense.

If you are not promoting them, why keep your account around to waste system resources?

1) I am promoting them, I am sending them traffic, not a ton, but I am sure they get traffic.

2) I host all my photos on my own server, not sure what system resources you are talking about.

Bottom line is this, very few people know that FEMJOY will close affiliates accounts with no sales for six months even if you send traffic and have had past sales like me.

Have you ever made a sale with them?
It can be a data cluster to have 1000's of affiliate accounts and you gotta manage them too.
Remember that the affiliates making the least amount of money are usually the most demanding ones...

Around ten sales, with a couple of the customers recurring for more than a year, but I admit that nearly all of the sales were over a year ago or more. I have been with them for five years, I realise it is not a huge number but I have lots of other sponsors under the same conditions and only FEMJOY has done this.

The problem is very easy to solve. Before accepting anybody to your program put up some big letters saying that they need a minimum of 20k visitors monthly or a minimum sales referral, why not inform people before they spend time creating sponsor links and galleries.

I never contacted FEMJOY before this. Again, if you are not happy with small affiliates promoting your program accept only big ones. Let's see how you like having 30% of your total business revenue in the hands of a single webmaster. Your choice, this is ok with me and part of a different debate.

Then just email them and say that your account is active. It sounds like that they are removing dead accounts.

I don't see any problems with this.

Various databases, etc.

Thanks to tubes, affiliates now are being phased out. Programs can generate their own traffic sources. They are deleting inactive affiliate accounts so it's easier to work with the still active webmasters.

I seriously don't see the issue with them clearing out affiliate accounts. They emailed you about it - so if you don't want yours closed just fucking reply. Not sure what the problem is.

I re-read their email again and don't see any indication that they are not happy with small affiliates. They just asked if you need any help with traffic/sales generation.

It's not uncommon for affiliate managers to go over affiliate accounts and see if anything could be improved, so they offered help.

As you should be able to read from my post above I already emailed them as has somebody else on this thread, none of us got a reply back yet.

If FEMJOY is clearing up accounts, perfect, good job, they could have worded the message much better if that is the case. This could be solved or it could not, we will have to wait three more days and see what happens.

I don't think they should. You sent them an email, they got it and made a note that your account is active. No need to send you a dozen confirmations.

The way they worded it is fine. I understood their intentions perfectly.
It's not their problem some webmasters suffer from autism and get their panties twisted from the mere notification of account verification.

My reply using 3 different email addresses was that I'll still promote them, but smaller affiliates like myself have a more difficult time getting decent search engine traffic these days.

One of the various reasons why that I volunteered to Ruben was user uploaded tubes having great SERPs because sponsors *cough* Femjoycash.com * cough* help enable them with additional content, on top of all the stolen content that get DMCAs.

I also mentioned that it was more difficult to make sales with the overload of free photo and video content currently made available to the public ..... by * cough* Femjoycash.com * cough* certain sponsors * cough* Met-art * cough* as if they were having a contest to see who would be the first to create the biggest free site.

I did notice that a ton of lengthy Joymii videos were removed from YouPorn recently.

A smart move move, considering it is ridiculous trying to compete with ReallyUsefulCash's Lesbea channel giving away almost 400 videos 9+ minutes in length. * insert rolling eyes smiley here *

That would be completely outrageous and no way to treat affiliates, if it were true.

I think it was a spoof email though.

lol how is this even in the slightest little bit ok. You're away for a fortnight = no reply = closed account while still sending traffic

email goes to spam, or you miss it for whatever reason = closed account, still sending traffic

ZERO work needed from the program to keep your account that is sending traffic open, you don't spend 1 second on anything at all to do with that account, and you decide to just close it if the affiliate doesn't reply to an email that might not even get seen, within a week?

and what if you have rebills? referred webmasters?

bearing in mind ZERO resources/time are being spent on the accounts this notification went out to. Not everyone sends 20k a day to EVERY program they promote.

i got this email

and

i have own pic galleries
i have many recurring old members
i do not generate too much sales right now, about 1 per 2 months
i'm still sending traffic to them!

and for me this is very unfair to close account with no new sales, but with many recurring members!

fucking stupid way to handle things, I got the email too, I have sent them 20k uniques in the past 12 months, not many but it resulted in only 1 sale which is why I don't send them a lot of traffic to begin with. I have no problem removing them from my sites.

"FEMJOY reserves the right to terminate your account if it is idle for more than one month. In such a case you will be notified in advance."

I guess their definition of idle must be "not sending any sales" rather than "not sending any traffic"

If I do not hear back from you by next week, we?ll assume you?re no longer interested in promoting, and will close your affiliate account with us. You can re-open it in the future if you chose to start promotion again."

femjoy.com // joymii.Hello,

I'm really really really sorry about this!!!!!

Please forgive us. That came out all wrong.

As some of you are aware, we have a very international staff and English is not our first language. The email was also sent out a bit accidentally. Some affiliates received the corrected version of that email without the mangled up last paragraph.

To clear things up, your account will not be deactivated.
Your sales will not be scrubbed or shaved or poofed into oblivion.

Many of you have worked with us for nearly decade and we've run one of the most straight, honest programs. That isn't changing.

You can contact me directly if you have any questions: michael [at] femjoy.com

We are currently going through a bit of damage control with this among our staff and I apologize once again for this mistake.

No, we fucked up. The email says if you don't respond, we'll close your account even if you got rebills with us. We didn't mean to say that.

We are beginning to clean up our affiliate list. Right now, anyone can sign up as an affiliate and other program owners can relate to the problem of users signing up just to get some free content.

So we will start clearing up accounts that have sent us ZERO traffic and ZERO sales over a long period of time because usually those accounts are dead.

Unfortunately, this email was sent out prematurely, worded incorrectly, and en mass, instead of to the targetted affiliates involved.

To the contrary, we wanted to announce to all our past and present affiliates, how much our ratios have improved over the last year after we made some major optimizations to the site and our galleries. We want you to come back to us because some of the stats we are seeing are better than other sites in our niche.

To the affiliates we angered: I apologize.

To the affiliates who gave us the benefit of the doubt and time to respond in this thread: thank you for your patience, but we would have understood if you were angry at us about this. We totally goofed.

so why are you sending those emails out? it is very easy ... you are pushing your affiliates this fucked up way ... why just dont send them email, please, can you send more traffic and sales, as other programs are doing it? why you must send emails like send more sales, or we will waste even more of your time with you removing our content! ... sad ...

@lucas131

In case you haven't read, they made a mistake and michael has apologised for it. It doesn't seem that there is any more to it, your comment is out of place.

@michael

If it was done by mistake then fine, these things can happen anywhere. Although replying by email to people who wrote back to affiliates @femjoy.com would have been reassuring that somebody read the messages.

I wanted to ask you what are the chances of having the account suspended by FEMJOY if somebody sends traffic but has had zero sales over a long period of time. Druid mentioned on this thread that he was told by Met-Art that as long as he sends traffic the account will remain open, I am wondering if that is the same policy at FEMJOY.

They do this when they want to steal your traffic or your money. It's the same when an affiliate program that has 100 or 200 dollar payouts wants all that cash laying around in old affiliate accounts. It does not cost anything to keep an affiliate, especially a CCBill affiliate. CCBill does not delete anything. This is why I use yourls.com for all my affiliate links. If something changes, I own the link and I just change their link out and keep my traffic.
