How do Plug Submissions Work?

Hello Everyone,

How do plug submissions work? Allow me to explain.

When "partner A" agrees with "partner B" that they will trade traffic, (A) will log into (B)'s site and therein enter into a form a username and password, then information about for example the gallery partner A wishes to submit to partner B's site. The same goes for partner B for submitting to partner A.

The question I have is what if partner A is using a different script than partner B. And let's assume that partner A has made an agreement with partners C through Z and most of them use different scripts while some do not use a script at all.

If you have 50 trading partners and each one uses a different script while some do not, how do you submit plugs in a situation like that? Do you just bite the bullet and log in to all the unique flavors of your trading partners and for those who do not use a script, do you just email it?

There's also plug submitter. Do they log in to the different websites of their partners automatically for you to save you time? That must mean that those who participate in plug submitter must have scripts wherein the service can interface automatically.
