EPOCH and PAYPAL

Hi guys,
I just noticed on one site -who was using epoch- that they also had an option for using paypal. Then I had read somewhere that paypal was indeed partnering with epoch. anybody has input on that?

https://epoch.com/paypal/

We are pleased to announce the expansion of PayPal to our payment pages for all Epoch clients. You can now accept PayPal from consumers in the U.S., Europe and throughout the world. This exclusive offering stems from our successful pilot program operated in Europe over the past year, the results of which greatly exceeded the expectations of both PayPal and Epoch. PayPal's iconic presence on our payment pages adds strength and exceptional brand recognition, especially in regions less likely to use credit cards. It is also ideal for swift mobile purchases or for surfers who prefer more anonymity.

Surely, however, that excludes adult content websites. Yes? But yeah, that is good news for many!

No. I don't believe it excludes adult websites - as I just signed up with a site who had epoch - and I had an option for paypal.

Did PayPal alter their TOS, or are they just allowing Epoch to use PayPal for adult purchases?

Well... i literally just got denied today by paypal with the following statement:

-------------
Thank you for contacting PayPal. I have reviewed the website referenced in your email below. Unfortunately, your site offers adult digital content which can be downloaded and is therefore prohibited under our Acceptable Use Policy. PayPal cannot be used to pay for adult digital content.
-------------------

So I have now contacted epoch and inquire about that - because they have paypal on a few adult sites.

I think Epoch are being sneaky here and taking payments from Adult sites as pornxxx but sending them to paypal as EP Ltd. Which is Epoch but under a different name. Paypal probably dont know that Epoch is a customer.

In short, if you use Epoch you can use Paypal for your customers. If you go direct to Paypal you cant.

I kind of figured that may what they are doing. I've seen adult webmasters do this. If the case, Epoch could find themselves in a world of trouble. I hope PayPal is not turning a blind eye to it. The credit card companies will slay anyone involved. Takes me back to the debacle so many years ago when the credit card companies dropped the axe on high risk cc processors who provided processing for adult sites. Remember iBill.
