Depends on how much you're going to optimize for Yahoo! now.

For the most part from hearing of people's experiences, it's very difficult to get to the top of Yahoo! and you don't receive many hits (however, they are very productive).

It use to be worth it. But now since they use googles result in the mix, long as you optimize for google you can rank very high on yahoo for free.

I shelled out 650 to be exact with yahoo and i regret this decision. It is overpriced and not worth the outcome.

Not a good way to make money. Yahoo was good, when the submission was free. 600 is too much to get it back.

No need to spend $600. Purchase traffic from http://www.sex.com on a per-click per-country basis. Packages start at $25

Nothing against you, gkrek, but it's not a good way of promoting company to spam in evry thread with no other content in your reply in my eyes.

Too late now, but I think PPC would have been a better idea. That way you can test your website before shelling out $600.00

Normally I would agree with you about spam, However this thread addressess the concern of the high cost of advertising. In the case of Yahoo...It used to be that the $600 only got them to review the site with no gaurentees of getting listed in the first place. Now, that may have changed but Gary offers a service that is 2nd to none for our industry.

He owns sex.com for Christ's sake. Fuck Yahoo. This is the number 1 site that a newbie surfer tries to type in. Newbie surfers are worth their weight in gold in my book and if Gary can get them to me for 1/12th the cost of Yahoo then I am all over that action.

In fact, we do have a listing or two with him.

Gary...If you are going to be at the Phoenix forum...Please look me up. Oh, and bring Matt along.

YES! that was a mistake - one I made twice when I first opened my paysite. The money could be better spent on advertising on a toplist like PickaPicka.com....With the recent cheanges to Yahoo! (now when you search for a term you get listings from the web and not just their directory) You could've gotten in Yahoo easily by submitting to Google. At least you didnt pay them $600 TWICE like I did- at the time I had just bought this book "Search Engine Positioning"-they such a big deal about Yahoo's importance that I thought the $600 was a good investment.....

HOLY SHIT, GARY KREMEN, THAT YOU??

Just wanted to say, I hope some day they catch that fucker who hijacked sex.com and make him pay what is owed to you. Also good luck with your lawsuit against verisign, I've read you're favored for a win.

A yahoo link is only worth it if you work the search engines AND they link to you with the text you want.

If Yahoo links to you with your keywords you will find it MUCH easier to get a top ranking.

How do you get them to link to you with your prefered text? That's why you hire an expert, or study webmasterworld.com.

My personal opinion is that, this is mistake.
I have listing there, and I'm getting only few hits

and do not forget that with these 600$ you are buying listing only for a year

use that year to improve your SE positions
link in yahoo increases the link popularity A LOT
