2257 in UK?

I'm in the UK and just wondered if I should be doing anything differently on my adult sites with regards 2257 compliance? I know it's a US thing but do I still have to have exactly the same kind of compliance notice on my sites as US sites do, or is it different for the UK?

If you have photos on the internet, no matter where you live. I would advise you to have 2257 on them.

If they are viewed in the US, you have to have them.

Interesting! I asked the same question on a UK forum and a few people on there said that they never bother because it's a US law. I think I'll do as you suggest though - not worth taking the risk with this kind of thing.

One other 2257-related question: what if I have a site that lets users upload their own content? I assume I would require some kind of 2257 documentation for all the content that gets uploaded by users?

Hmm

UIEGA(unlawful internet enforcement gambling act) is a US law too. That one shows you if you ever intend to visit the US, you might as well follow US laws for this type of thing. Several people have been arrested changing planes in US places(Puerto Rico, as well as Continental US) Something just happened to the guy that designed Party Poker I believe. Also why Neteller, Citadel, Firepay etc. are no longer around. The owners of Neteller are the first guys arrested in this manner I believe.

A solicitor friend of mine advised me to have a warning page on all sites as they said it was UK law. As far as I am aware its the only thing we must have.
As already said the 2257 thng is only a US law, so as long as you don't want to go there it doesn't really affect you, though it will have implications for any US customers you have.

Cheers for the advice guys. I think I'll play safe and have both a warning page and a 2257 notice - not worth the risk otherwise!

English, living in france, I had the same problem as you, and asked myself the same question about the 2257 compliance, As said better to have it, whats more I was told at the time that if you did'nt have it , US based website would not work with you.

Good luck
