I don't really have a problem with hunting. Not really my thing, but to each their own. It does strike me as an absurd thing for her to say for a couple reasons:

1) It seems like she is trying to not offend animal rights people. Don't they detest her anyways?

2) The obvious; she says it while she is sitting next to a bear skin carpet complete with head and she likely has other hunting mementos around the room too (just a guess).

SNL is going to have fun with this...

I watched Dances With Wolves last night and there is a part in the movie where the Buffalo finally appear and the Indians are super happy as they depend so much on the Buffalo to live and how they use everything possible on the animal leaving nothing to waste. I don't have a problem with that as it's a natural way of life.

Then there's the scene where they come over the ridge to find several Buffalo carcasses laying in waste as the white man has only taken them for their hide and left the rest to rot. That sucks.

I don't know the circumstances as to how the bear skin rug ended up on Palin's floor but if it got there similar to the Indian way I don't have a problem with that. If the Bear was wasted just to have a trophy decoration than that sucks.

What I'm more concerned about is how much longer it will take for Todd's Polaroid collection of Sarah stretched out naked on the bear skin rug to get leaked.

Did you actually kill and slaughter the bear yourself? I think that's the thing that gets me the most about animal trophies. Killing and slaughtering an animal is a pretty unpleasant experience and I'm completely creeped out by people who want to keep reminders of that experience. I just don't get it and it just creeps me the fuck out.

i have all of the above and i have never thought to myself "mwaha this leather belt makes me feel superior to the cow that was killed to make it "

Yeah , my wallet is leather now that I think about it. I don't have a bunch of leather stuff because of the "boo hoo poor animals" thing. i'm just not drawn to things made of leather I guess.

yeah, they match my blue jeans and tshirt perfectly. Don't want me in tshirt and jeans? dont invite me to your wedding. haha.

As far as funerals go I refused to attend funerals of loved ones dressed up more than when I visited them when they we alive. If i'm attending a funeral of someone I don't know then I dress up somewhat out of respect for the family.

I've never worn a suit or tie a day in my life.

Ever ate bear meat? It's like eating pig, just bigger, very greasy, but tasty
Now Buffalo or Caribou, that's good meat to eat!

She even says on the show, she tries to use everything from the animal, it's part of the culture from where she lives, I love how some of you are bashing that.

Let's not forget this woman as Govenor of Alaska not only supported, but financed with state dollars, "aerial wolf hunting"- a practice which is not considered humane or even sportsman-like for those who actively hunt. The fact that people even waste their time discussing these issues with her is laughable.

Quote:

In early 2007, Palin's administration approved an initiative to pay a $150 bounty to hunters who killed a wolf from an airplane in certain areas, hacked off the left foreleg, and brought in the appendage. Ruling that the Palin administration didn't have the authority to offer payments, a state judge quickly put a halt to them but not to the shooting of wolves from aircraft.

Detractors consider the airborne shootings a savage business, conducted under the euphemism "predator control." The airplanes appear in the winter, so the wolves show up like targets in a video game, sprinting across the white canvas below. Critics believe the practice violates the ethics of hunting, while supporters say the process is not hunting at all, but a deliberate cull.

Quote:

Gordon Haber is a wildlife scientist who has studied wolves in Alaska for 43 years. "On wildlife-related issues, whether it is polar bears or predator controls, she has shown no inclination to be objective," he says of Palin. "I cannot find credible scientific data to support their arguments," he adds about the state's rationale for gunning down wolves. "In most cases, there is evidence to the contrary."

Last year, 172 scientists signed a letter to Palin, expressing concern about the lack of science behind the state's wolf-killing operation. According to the scientists, state officials set population objectives for moose and caribou based on "unattainable, unsustainable historically high populations." As a result, the "inadequately designed predator control programs" threatened the long-term health of both the ungulate and wolf populations. The scientists concluded with a plea to Palin to consider the conservation of wolves and bears "on an equal basis with the goal of producing more ungulates for hunters."

She's a fucking idiot.

attention whoring at it's finest

seeric 12-20-2010 09:47 AM

bear meat is nasty.
done for sport and sport only.

Tom_PM 12-20-2010 09:55 AM

In the episode with Kate Gosselin last week, Palin tells Gosselin that her father killed that bear. Have you seen her parents house? There's more animal parts in that house than tree parts.

DateDoc 12-20-2010 09:58 AM

Every Democrat should be shouting Palin for President! Right? You can beat her in 2012 hands down, right? Go for it!

jesse_adultdatingdollars 12-20-2010 10:34 AM

Palin is a idiot

DaddyHalbucks 12-20-2010 10:46 AM

She's probably not the world's most brilliant person, but she showed great leadership skills as Alaska's CEO.

Vendzilla 12-20-2010 11:08 AM

Watched her show last night, was pretty good, she waited on tables, rode a quad, shot a shotgun, went gold pan mining.
Sorry to hear the old guy died, Bones, R.I.P.

I don't think it will ever happen, but I hope they run her. The democrats could run Charlie Rangle and they'd destroy her.

CIVMatt 12-20-2010 12:15 PM

Are you suppose to eat the fur? As much as I'm a non-supporter I think this thread fails hard

EVERESS 12-23-2010 09:36 AM

You know... if Palin was to make it into the White House... What the Fuck would be the difference?? Seriously... this country is up to its neck in bullshit. Toss any fool in there and its going to be the same game
