WTF is in that Sushi boat?!?

Well, who can argue with gourmet strip mall sushi?

BTW, Gu Gu literally means "loose material" or "miscellaneous ingredients" in Japanese, which is very unlikely a native Japanese person would name a restaurant.

I am not a food snob, so I will be glad to eat at Gu Gu the next time I am down your way, and will give it a fair review, however, I stand by my initial claim, that Nobu provides exquisite, albeit expensive, excellent Japanese cuisine.

and I agree with your claim:winkwink:

if you think Nobu in Vegas is expensive, try the one in London:1orglaugh

I have to admit, I hate going to a restaurant and ordering the same thing every time, but I make an exception when it comes to the Itzik Hagadol Grill. This appears to be one of their most popular offerings and I understand why.

You get 20 Israeli salads, with falafel for $20, or $7 if you get a skewer of meat with it. You start off with 20 salads in front of you and as soon as you finish one they bring out a replacement. You can eat to your heart's desire, then they will pack the leftovers in really nice plastic containers for you to take home. It is the best value in restaurants that I can think of.

This place is great for bringing groups where some are vegetarian and others are not.

My favorite for sushi places is Sushi On Trop, as has mentioned above. For teppanyaki, I prefer Fukuda on Sunset road by Sunset Station. It's better than benihana and cheaper. Their sushi is pretty good, but not as good as Sushi On Trop. If you do eat at sushi on trop, eat at the sushi bar...faster, better service

I have nothing against strip mall joints per se - one of my favorite seafood and chop houses in Las Vegas "was" just such a place - Alan Albert's, which I was sadly informed recently closed.

My wife would usually order a 2 lb Maine Lobster, I would get a large cut Prime Rib, and we both ordered a twice baked sour cream potato, and Caesar's salad.

Foodgasm...great wine list, plus the decor was straight out of the Rat Pack. :)

I shall miss that place...

It's closed? Damn. That kind of place is right up my alley.
