I've been to the pawn stars shop a couple of times... It's really not that interesting, it's basically a gift shop for fans of the show. If you actually wanted to do some business you have to call them and make an appointment.
BTW this is how they make a lot of their money: http://stores.ebay.com/Gold-and-Silver-Pawn-Shop |

So you will find some big companies like Toyota have trademarks all over the world for both their name and their logo and they qualify since they do business in the countries. But Jim's Place might be owned by a bar owner in London, and he may never register the name of his bar as a trademark and there could be a ton of people using the same name all over the world and it would be all perfectly legal. |

Do more people have gambling addiction than porn addiction, very likely so. The ignorant thing was your comment on how hard it would be for you to stomach watching someone sell something to fuel their gambling addiction. It's business, our business of selling porn isn't any more righteous than someone running a pawn shop. Hell most people could argue what we do is 10x worst. Porn has it's own set of moral dilemmas, which you seem to have no problem stomaching those. |
Funny story: Before the show was on, I won 700 at the casinos and walked back there to see if I could get a good deal on a watch. There was a FRED watch that I really liked with a 1200 price tag on it. I was dealing with the grandson (the bald guy's son). He held it up to his dad for 3 seconds and said, what's the best we can do in this? He said $300. I am pretty sure the dad thought I was selling this watch and they were buying it. I quickly said, cool cool, and went to the cash register. The guy in the back sized it for me and said how great this watch was and they go for over 2000 new. They polished it up and it was the best deal I ever got. It must've been some football player's watch since they took 6 links off it. There were some sketchy ass meth heads in there, that I never really see on the show. Wish they had an UNCENSORED DVD of the whackjobs that roll in there or the hookers trying to barter for better deals. You feel the eerieness of all the engagement rings there....its so pathetic.

I wanna go there with some bullshit item and a photoshopped certificate and practice a civil war story or some crazy meeting with a celebrity just to see if I could pull it off.

But hardcore pawn is great and real guys come in after being up for 3 week on crack and think they are going to get enough for an uncut kilo of pure coke for a busted stolen xbox they dropped on the way in and then threaten to kill the older sleezy guy in the leather jacket and the big gaurds pull him out and throw him in the street lol. |
