I always laugh when people say "Jews killed Jesus" like it was a bad thing. It's like theyr'e unaware that Jesus was Jew for one thing, and for the other thing.. they dont seem to realise that without being dead, a person can't rise from the dead and start a whole new religion and new testament.

I'd like to know what they think Jesus was going to do if he wasn't killed? Are they saying it was NOT part of Gods plan for his son to live among us and then suffer for our sins and die for them, and rise again and all that magic? What was his career going to be?

We really need to go back to reading one newspaper in the morning and that's it. All this constant news has us riding a fucking crazy train to nowhere. Everyone is so poorly informed and there is so much noise, that it's like living in some acid trip. Everyday it's like a joke.

AZ just passed emergency legislation to block the protesters... I think it was 300 feet away and no protesting an hour before/after funerals.

I'll still be going down on Thursday... They expected 2500ish people to help show up to block them douches, but with the law passing who knows what will go down now.

I thought bikers did turn up to all their demos (at least the funerals)? I've certainally seen photos where bikers provide a "ring of protection" from those nutters around funerals. You can also see them in the background in some scenes of the Louis Theroux documentary.

Yeah, to be honest, I actually thought about this while driving home last night and came to the inexorable conclusion that I owe you an apology.

All you did was make a completely valid point... and I lost my cool for some reason that still isn't really clear to me. That's not characteristic of the way I conduct myself, either in person or on the boards, and it really bothered me once I started asking myself "Now why did I go and do that?"

The problem likely is that I'm just on edge about this whole tragedy and the media coverage of everything related to it, because this shooting hit close to home, quite literally -- I live just a couple miles from that Safeway, and the family land where I grew up is even closer. I grew up playing with my friends in the sand washes and mesquite bosques that pepper the area. To cap it off, if I hadn't been running late that morning in preparing to fly out to Vegas for Internext, my plan was to have breakfast with my wife at a place called "Beyond Bread" that's in the same shopping center as the Safeway, just about 50 yards across the parking lot.

All the media coverage, all this focus on external influences that might have affected this fucked up kid... to me, it all smacks of this need and/or desire that some people have to capitalize on situations like this politically, and to have someone to blame beyond the deranged shitheads who pull the trigger in spree shootings like this one. As a result, my hometown/state (and the character of its people) is being bandied about in the press like a badminton shuttlecock, and it has gotten under my skin a bit, I think.

At any rate, I do apologize for losing my shit a little bit there, and running with your simple quip like it was more than it was.... and my very odd momentary inability to read a message board properly, as well. ;-)

I am glad Arizona passed that ban, but the Phelp's will likely show up and protest, and take the tickets for violating the law, then sue the state for violation of their rights. It seems to be their standard MO.

The Patriot Guard generally rides to the soldiers funerals where the Phelps clan are, but sometimes they don't have the manpower to do so. For a recent funeral in my town, the Phelps protested, and old men with lawnmowers showed up to drown them out.

God should send some people to shut these fags up.
