I would like to see this banned in the UK as well. You go to thier countries and you have to abide by thier rules. They come here they should abide by our rules and if they dont like it they should go back to where they come from ...Infact they can all bugger off and give the jobs back to the real British people :2 cents:

And good on France for doing what the people of France wanted

moeloubani 04-11-2011 03:13 PM

The idea of laws is that when someone commits a crime, you arrest them, charge them and then let a judge/jury decide what to do with them.

The idea of arresting someone purely for hiding their face is like arresting someone for a precrime. Should people be ticketed for buying fast cars because they COULD break the speed limit?

I'd much rather go up against a guy wearing a mask than a guy with an assault rifle yet Americans feel it's perfectly okay to have an assault rifle and even carry it out in public. How can people be so scared of a piece of cloth and so okay with AK-47s in every home just beats me.

It's OK when an Arab woman (or the think it's a woman) walks though immigration at the airport, coming from Afghanistan, and NO ONE is allowed to look at her face to see if the person under the birka is her or not? Even better, the photo in the ID is of them in a fucking birka?

This is OK?

Are you allowed to enter your own country in a mask? No. But they can.

Fuck 'em. If they don't like it, leave.

How does that apply to citizens of that country?

A lot of the counter arguments in this thread are based on visiting countries and following customs. Guess what people? You have homegrown Muslims as well. They aren't even visiting! Real citizens that pay taxes!

What exactly is the security risk of a veil? Are they going to hide a bomb behind their veil that would not fit underneath their cloak (sorry I don't know the right word)?

I dont really care if they are born in the UK and are Muslims or not. If you dont like the countrys laws you dont live in it, its that simple. If I walk into a petrol station or most shops with a crash helmet on i am asked to take it off becuse it is hiding my face , why the hell should they be any different because of thier religious beliefs. One law for all citizens not all different laws because of thier religious beliefs.

And I assume that you will move from the UK because the law says that they CAN wear the veils and you don't like that?

It sounds like a new law to me. What do you do then? Sit back and take it?

Police pulls them over. How do they know who they are?

I am not allowed to wear a mask when the police pulls me over. Why do they get a pass?

I am not allowed to walk into a bank with a mask on. Same with a government house or police station. But they can.

Fuck them. Seriously. Everyone should have to show their face.

First off, anyone American who feels that it should be banned, you have done exactly what the people attacking this country wanted to happen. You have become cowards, you are afraid and you will do anything to feel protected and that means giving away your rights as a person in this country.

Second off anyone willing to give the federal government the right to take away civil liberties for safety deserve neither. Do your history even one of our founding fathers said this. I find it funny as a conservative that you Shaun Hannity, Rush, listerns have destroyed the true conservative moment in this country. You all are nothing but racist and or over religious idiots who believe that we all deserve freedom and limited goverment unless it interferes with your beliefs.

F* you all. I blame you people for destroying this country over the damn liberals any day.

I can hide a bomb in my wheelchair that would level a building. Lets ban 'em!

Either ban wheelchairs or take away buildings' handicap access. :) That'll show those jihadist paraplegics.

Dude, what does anything have to do with the airport? It's private property and private business. United could ban green shirts tomorrow for all I give a shit. My rights granted to me in the constitution end (for the most part) when I walk onto someone else's property.

So you're allowed to say that they shouldn't wear veils even though the law says they should, but should the law go the other way they aren't allowed to say that they should be allowed to wear veils but instead should just leave the country?

Tell us about the time you saw a woman weiring a burqa in a bank.

Those things simply don't happen. The women wearing the burqa or veil understand that if they need to be identified then they will have to show their faces.

Uhm... The police can ask them to remove the mask.

You're allowed to wear a mask just as they are when the police pulls you over. If he/she wants you to remove it, they will simply ask.

You can walk into a bank with a mask on. Same with a government house or police station. If you're just doing it to be an asshole, and wearing a ski mask or something. They might ask you to remove it or leave. They could do the same with anyone wearing a muslim veil.

Everyone should have the right to show their face if they want to. You know, civil liberty. It's kind of important.

Wrong.

It's called treating everyone EQUALLY, not special. Everyone is treated the same regardless of what imaginary man they believe in. It's that simple. If you deviate from that, you are requesting special treatment. I do not believe in that.

It is that simple. Uncover your face when you go in public, or don't leave your house and wear it 24/7.

No Im saying if they do bring the law in over here its thier choice they live with it or leave and to be frank I hope they do bring it out over here, it has bugged me for years why there is one law for them and another for us. I bet If I started a relgious group called the motorcycle lid lovers and it was part of our religion to wear out helmets all the time I woud still have to remove it in shops an other places

They don't even have to show their face when they enter many countries. Seen it with my own eyes. Their IDs and passports are often of them wearing the birka.

Put on any mask you'd like and when the police ask you to remove it, tell them your religion forbids it. See where that goes and let us know about it. But if you are a muslim woman wearing a birka, they wouldn't dare ask you to remove it. Is that fair?

Muslims get special treatment all around the world.

I don't know where you are, but where I am, all banks have notices on the door that you can not wear helmets, face masks or even sunglasses. HOWEVER, muslim women in full face birkas are allowed.

Not sure what would happen if I walked in with a helmet on, but my guess is either not serve me or call the police. The charge... no idea, but I'm sure it would be a pain in the ass and a waste of time.

Go figure.

You should care. But since you are American, I should have expected that answer.

Religious dress is protected by the First Amendment. That means they get away with pretty much anything they want.
