Vince is really taking things forward, good move to get him on board!

The negativity in this thread is astonishing.

wehateporn 07-05-2011 03:01 PM

Is it all sold out or is there anything left? I noticed that Nalem's Alexa shot up when Vince was brought onboard. He's a big name!

wehateporn 07-05-2011 03:05 PM

Thanks for the quick deal Vince :thumbsup

I think its pretty fair. It requires labor.
With that said, nice talking to you Vince, thanks for the great deals!

Since Vince came on board this has become a legit company.

hmmm, the problem is, I'm insanely good looking and tend to get filmed way more than your average joe. So, even if its only a few $'s per removal its going to cost me a fortune

I've signed 10 year contracts with JFK and MIKEB so if anyone else takes pictures of my lovely mug, they have to pay royalties to these fine gentlemen.

You pay for the labor bro.. Remember labor is involved.

boneprone 07-05-2011 10:24 PM

Unlike a photo which can simply be removed upon request you cant just remove an entire video because a person doesnt like it.

Me as a paying advertiser would not like this. I lose on the ad space I bought on the video if it was taken down just casue one person doesnt want to be seen.

So what needs to be done is an actual video edit. To black out a face it takes labor. And labor costs money.

Im sure those who really dont want to be in a video are more than willing to pay for that labor.
Sounds fair if you really think about it. I think its only like 60 bucks.

Fair.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading laws about this... as long as you tell the camera man to leave you alone and they come back, you are allowed to "remove" the camera from your presence as long as you are not intentionally trying to cause damage :winkwink:

NALEM 07-05-2011 10:54 PM

Another emergency teleconference was held between our new CEO Vince Russo and the existing Board of Directors behind NALEM (me, myself, and I). We voted in favor of the following:

- Extending the Public Relations agreement between Will 76 and Achmed at WTF BRO PR Inc. Their insane fees are well worth it, and they have saved us from really embarassing ourselves even more, and are commit to their Mission Statement "you will be forgiven and back on top and ready to fuck up again in no time!"

- Negotiating with several event organizers who are determined to think that they are better off buying us out for the next year

- To not use the words rogue, crazy, insecure, unprofessional and JFK, in the same sentence as it would be absolutely wrong of us

- Introducing a affordable yet creative option to those looking to hide their photos taken by rogue photographers

Below please find the first design among many more to come. Be patient as the children of India and China are having a drawing contest and we will select the best of the worst from among them. As a way to pay back this industry that we love so much, we will be having a job fair ASAP. All unemployed industry people and all GFY board posters/posers are welcome to apply for the garment assembly positions that will be available very soon.

We will be offering the first 1000 idiots that apply incredible payouts up to 250 Euro per mask assembled, even though we sell them for 99. Furthermore to make you feel right at home, once you have begun to turn over the finished goods to us, we will be sure to apply the industry standard of "shaving", and make sure you get SHIT!!! + or - a few Euros.

We are excited to bring innovative ideas to the people and look forward to having these available at the registration table at all the upcoming European shows for a one time price of 99 Euros. Designer glasses are not included but are available for an extra 299 Euros.

I am no legal expert.. but the lawsuits I have been involved with.. with people taking pictures/video of someone and putting it online... Its came to this.

You can not post a picture or video of someone online without their permission/rights to the content, if its used for advertisement purposes/marketing/paid for.

So in theory by putting up a watermark, someone paid for pictures that someone took in a non public place/event without your permission from that production company.

If someone really wants their stuff removed they need to send a C&D. This also applies to trademarks in images, they are profiting off a image of your trademark without your consent. C&D and/or DMCA works in that case. They cannot charge you to remove the content.

There are signs at shows saying "by passing this point you agree to be filmed".

If you then want to be taken out, a small processing fee is essential to get the work done.

This is BUSINESS, not CHARITY!

Regardless of waiver there are laws that do not supersede a waiver. Two people can agree that its ok for them to go have a boxing match on the sidewalk, but it doesn't mean its legal.

Being filmed is one thing, being filmed and used for the profits is another issue.

Your analogy is wonky.

I assure you that it is perfectly legal to put up a sign saying "pass this point and you agree that you will be filmed and that film can be used for anything etc".

I really don't see your problem. Have you ever even met Vince at a show? He is a stand up guy and although clearly in this for profit (who isn't), he isn't a rip off merchant. If you can't afford the reasonable removal fees, he has already said he can do payment plans etc.

I hate haters man.

So wait, everyone hates nalem for supporting xxx, Nalem brings on a known name in the industry to run their show and now half of everyone here that was once against them is now for them?

If you'd ever sat down to one of Vince's legendary "Leet Dinners" in vegas in the basketball suite, you'd have a clue. I'm guessing you haven't.

Vince is JUST the man to turn around NALEM's fortunes here.

Your blinkered in the box thinking is just what is wrong with this industry.

What if we want to pay to have other people removed from the video like all of the fat people who are always at shows? Or the badly dressed middle aged women with the bad hair and worse teeth?

What about superimposing our company logo onto everyone's T-shirts perhaps?

Your lawyer sounds shit mate. Hope he didn't charge you too much for the call.

Ask him what a waiver is.

You agree a contract when you walk past the piece of paper stating you will be filmed if you walk past that bit of paper.

If you then demand the owner of that footage takes time and money to remove you, you must expect to pay. He said it won't be too much.

Not at all sure why you think that is unreasonable? Do you do work for free?

Wow. A lot of reading here. Ill have to read it all to catch up.
I was out for the weekend and watching firework celebrating the birth of our great Country.

Hope all is well.

Thanks for the kind words many of you here. And thanks for all the biz. Its never been better!

As for people not able to afford to pay to do the face removals in our videos, as I said before we can work something out. Reduced rates, payment plans, etc..

Our goal isnt to make you go broke or make things tight on you or your family $$ wise just to have your face removed from one of our show/convention videos. We are here to help and be part of the community. Not become a problem for the community. This is a courtsey from our part in removing your face from our videos and not a shakedown like many of you view this to be.

People taking photos of the shows and getting a small % of pics of people who find it unwanted is something that has been done for 10 years. What we do is no different.

Thanks everyone!
God Bless.
