You want to go after the poor and powerless, then let's go after the rich and powerful too!? They're the ones who get the most money from the government!

Might as well keep the government small and out of EVERYBODY'S life, no?

I said I support testing them too in an earlier post. If you need other peoples money for nothing, prove you are worthy. As soon as you're self reliant again I don't care if you celebrate with a kilo of coke.

That is the point of this idiotic law to make it difficult to receive help. It is racist at its core and a humiliation tactic.

Preliminary results from the state?s first round of testing, however, has seemingly proven both of those claims false. Only 2 percent of welfare recipients failed drug tests, meaning the state must reimburse the cost of the $30 drug tests to the 96 percent of recipients who passed drug tests (two percent did not take the tests). After reimbursements, the state?s savings will be almost negligible, the Tampa Tribune reports:

Cost of the tests averages about $30. Assuming that 1,000 to 1,500 applicants take the test every month, the state will owe about $28,800-$43,200 monthly in reimbursements to those who test drug-free.

That compares with roughly $32,200-$48,200 the state may save on one month?s worth of rejected applicants.

Net savings to the state: $3,400 to $5,000 annually on one month?s worth of rejected applicants. Over 12 months, the money saved on all rejected applicants would add up to $40,800 to $60,000 for a program that state analysts have predicted will cost $178 million this fiscal year.

And some people make up shit because their feelings were hurt they got kicked off a network for trying to run a tube site on shared hosting.

Just like people on welfare.

And besides that, you are assuming that people on welfare didn't work and pay
taxes before their life hit the skids and they needed welfare.

As far as those people are concerned, they paid into the system while they were working
just like everybody else. But now that they are on the skids they are accused
of never working or even paying a dime in taxes. That would be a lie.

100% agree with this.

I'm quite certain that some of those people on the dole in the US were doing really well 3 years ago and they too wanted to stop all welfare, social security, medicare etc.......
That was before they hit rock bottom. Now they need it to survive. I'm sure they sing a different tune now.

If it weren't for a few government programs in place my family would have been 100% fucked when my dad died in 1969.
His medical bills cleaned him and my mom out and he went bankrupt, then he died. Leaving a wife and two kids behind.
Now............... he was far from a dead beat, he was the first guy to bring VWs into the United States way back when. He was very well off and paid into the government coffers his entire life and luckily when he wasn't there the programs he'd paid into were.

Just sayin'

So the government has to pay for the drug tests and waste our money on that to. On top of pay the guy who can't find a job. That's classic!!!!

My medical expenses eat up close to 50% of my monthly income and I am eligible for government assistance and free healthcare if iwere to give this up. I won't, but if I did, I would happily take a piss test for the benefits since others would be supporting me.

Government office workers always seem like super lazy stoners. I vote for putting crystal meth in their coffee for increased speed and not including that in the testing.
