Two years ago my brother installed motion activated sprinklers ...

It's sad but when you have "kids" twice your size knocking on the door then stealing things off the property.. a deterrent has to be put in place ...
Nobody has knocked on the door since ...

Sorry for the little ones but yes.. bad apples do ruin it for the rest ...

It's not really a big thing in Australia. I had forgotten it was even halloween until my wife got home and asked if anyone knocked. Nup, not a single kid...

Put a note in blood on the door "Come in", left the door slightly open, put out the lights and waited in the kitchen with a knife.

She was more amused at you calling me gay for making a happy pumpkin than not knowing which one was hers :thumbsup

I'm on a third world country - it is a continual halloween of children begging on the streets ...

I'm just sad we didn't get any trick or treaters. Living in a building without any (to my knowledge) kids can get a bit dull this time of year.

stephane76 11-01-2011 06:58 AM

I bought a huge bag of candy, only 2 kids showed up
And no, i don't live in the Ghetto...

I live in a newer sub division here, all nice houses and a safe neighbourhood. Most of the kids were out with parents or an older sibling. We didn't get many teenagers in groups or anything like that. My Fiancee loves it tho, she decorated the front of our house a little. Pumpkin on the right was my effort lol.

Nice - the kids do seem to love this holiday

TurboAngel 11-01-2011 07:57 AM

I had candy and all but not one knock on the door.

:(

We don't do Halloween anymore because tons of kids are being dropped off in our neighborhood who don't even live close to our area.

Lace 11-01-2011 08:22 AM

No one comes to my house on Halloween. Between the driveway and lack of sidewalks, they tend to stay in the communities around. Hell, I don't even decorate for any holidays since no one can see my house.

SmokeyTheBear 11-01-2011 10:31 AM

my driveway is way too long, i put a bucket full of treats at the end of the driveway , about half were gone in the morning.

When I was a kid my area had literally thousands of kids. Parents would get about 150-200 kids at the door every Halloween. And there was always at least one or two houses every year that would be dark, either no one home or, as we kids thought, were just too cheap to give out candy. One house in particular was always dark every year, and in later years some kids decided to pelth that place with eggs. Hey, you cheap out and refuse to take part in something that's supposed to be FUN you takes your chances and you get what you get, right?

Being a homeowner for the better part of 20 years now, I absolutely hate being "that house", the one that's dark and obviously unwelcoming to the kids. But every once in a while something is going on that I just can't get to it. This year was one of those years unfortunately. I hope I don't get egged. :D

Last year I had a total of 12 kids come to the door. The year before that 13 I think.

flashfire 11-01-2011 11:11 AM

what is wrong with you people...buy $10 worth of candy and give the kids a fun night. What has happened to the world? hiding in the dark so you don't have to help make a kids childhood a little better

Spunky 11-01-2011 11:15 AM

The kids kicked my pumpkins and made a mess

Your upset because you didn't get to give some kid candy?:1orglaugh

Ryley 11-01-2011 12:02 PM

I went out for dinner so I would not need to give out candy.
