Previous seasons were better indeed and Lithgow was simply amazing.

I must say though, I was enjoying the season just a little bit until brother Sam died...
This Deb falling in secret love shit... Why? Did that weird shit happen in the books or something? |
I stopped watching after season 2.

Least fave was last season. The killer(s) was kinda cheesy. This one at least has some cult action and I do love me some James Olmos. |
agree on that!!

This season is suffering from catering to stupid viewers who don't get subtlety and need to be spoonfed every little tidbit.
It's still better than last season. This season looks good on paper, with Dexter questioning light vs. dark and the religious aspects, but the writers are too busy with lame subplots. They need to up the stakes on the show. Someone big needs to die, preferably Laguerta or Batista or both. Still, a lame season of Dexter is better than the best seasons of 99% of what's on TV. |
It's tough to keep any show interesting after 5 seasons, but even the way it's shot this season seems subpar, like the quality of an 80s sitcom.

Let's see... Dexter's wife is going to the airport, she forgets something, returns home... oops! I thought John Lithgow was brilliant, but that ending ruined it for me. This season - even though I only watched the last two episodes and had no idea what was going on beforehand - I knew it was going to end that way. |

I know its TV and its fantasy but it just seems like lazy writing to have him drive all the way from florida to BFE to kill someone he has very clear ties to, makes little to no attempt to create an alibi and brings his personal cell phone along to ensure he's totally trackable? I guess it could be argued that its intended plot arc; Dexter has become so sloppy that it culminates with the big "reveal"- but I think that might be giving too much credit. The end did accomplish what some fans have been wanting, it does raise the stakes and changes the playfield. Be interesting to see where they take it from here, I hope it gets better. If I had to guess I would say they will probably wrap it up in the next two seasons. Any thoughts or theories on how things will finally play out if they do decide to bring it to a solid close? |
Ironic that Deb wonders about her obsession with him on the show and then divorces him in real life.
|
Interesting, didn't know they got divorced.
