Approximately 25% of the national debt is held by foreign countries. Of that amount China holds a little over 1 trillion dollars...so no they do not hold "trillions" of dollars of U.S. debt.

BTW the other...approximately 75%...is held by Americans.

I am one of the American holders of the National Debt...and I suspect there are a few others on this board that are also holders of the National Debt.

You are correct, they hold over a trillion in debt, but not "trillions." My point is that China is the largest foreign holder of U.S. debt at over 1 trillion dollars.
