Fileserve is still up, but they shut down their affiliate/upload program. Lots of them deleted their files yesterday when they shut down the affiliate part of the site. Today fileserve terminated all their accounts so they couldn't log in anymore to delete things it seems.

Seems its all a fluid situation but there are rumors that Oron is about to terminate their program as well. We shall see.

I'm sure both the processors like Paypal and even more so the hosts (fucking leaseweb) are watching this situation closely and and reviewing their policies. Right now, if you sent a complaint about a specific site to Paypal and CCed DOJ I bet Paypal would shut off the account.

well like anything, when certain hosts abandon their service their customers flee to other hosts. I'm sure some of them are going to try to ride it out as long as they can because that means epic cash.

Just look at hotfile, they never responded to dmca until it became shitcan crazy. They got slammed pretty hard with some lawsuits for site rips. You can see the trend.

By that time they had so much money that they started deleting everything and then no one complained anymore. They were so popular that many people were too stupid to know any better and kept using them.
It was simply business.

Megaupload had $100,000,000 plus revenue reported for a few years in the papers the govt did on them. So by now I think a few hundred million/year combined among all illegal file sharing is more than one sale more for most of us.
