By the way, in addition to what I already said I'll add this -- Phoenix was outshot 20-2 in one of the early periods, and outshot and outchanced in the game by a mile. The ONLY thing that kept them in the game was Smith, the guy played like an iron man. In fact I'll go as far as to say no other goalie in the league is playing like this guy is right now.

If he can keep playing like that they just may have a chance of making it to round 3.

If anyone still disagrees with me then I have to ask: what game were you watching? :1orglaugh

Mutt 04-25-2012 07:35 PM

damn - defending champions - OUT!

sucks, i'm old school, like Original 6 teams. Detroit, Chicago, Boston gone and Ottawa has a chance to put New York out tomorrow night. Vancouver gone. A bit of the changing of the guard in the NHL and a lot of salary cap creating parity.

i want the Flyers or Rangers now, LA would be cool too.

Far-L 04-25-2012 10:01 PM

Boston fans booed them for not shooting more on a power play. They deserved to be served that sour bitter tasting treat called defeat.

I am pretty sure their loss was directed by the Secret Service as sanctioned by the President for Tim Thomas's slight on him.

lucas131 04-26-2012 01:23 AM

money, money, money ... biggest crap i have seen so far ... fuck off nhl, fuck off play off, fuck off every puppet in this fucking pseudo sport game. howgh, i am done with this bullshit

lucas131 04-26-2012 01:24 AM

pitt out, boston out, everything in seventh game ... oh yeah, no it is not about money ... fucking assholes, anyone still believe it is more a sport than making money on tickets and in betting? fucking crap, bye shitheads, hope nobody will win this year

joerudy1988 04-26-2012 01:38 AM

The Rangers are the next to be golfing

lucas131 04-26-2012 02:00 AM

i am done with this, that was last game i watched. they may keep showing that theatre to their american sheeps, but i know some other kind of hockey. bye nhl mafia

what was so bad? both teams were playing defensively, it went to overtime and Washington scored to win a close series.

whole play off this year is a fucking joke, as whole nhl is. i loved nhl when i started watching it, now i cannot even watch the whole fucking joke game, and switched to khl or our national league instead. that is where it is about hockey, not about money. just my two cents, maybe i am just so much european for that funny nhl show :)

lucas131 04-26-2012 03:27 AM

and i am not talking about it in anger or so, last draws made me some nice beer money, but i just cannot watch that creepy show anymore ... :2 cents:

lol i still don't understand why you think the NHL is 'creepy' and a 'joke', what is it about the NHL that makes you say that? and how is the KHL and Czech league different? KHL is a money league too paying players millions of dollars.

only in nhl can play first team with last and get 1:8. nothing else to say :) fun, entertainment, hotdogs, but not hockey

edit: no not hockey, hockey yes, but hockey with puppets :2 cents:

lucas131 04-26-2012 03:43 AM

but i know i will be still watching play off, as there is philadephia and jarda jagr! go jarda go! :thumbsup

I have it on good authority that the S.S. were hitting him with an ultrasonic mindfuck beam the entire game, which skewed his vision and slowed his reflexes just enough to cost them the series.

Plus they spiked his customary pregame energy drink with salt peter.

Ya think?

You know I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Ottawa take it. I'm interested to see what they might have left in the tank for the next round.

PR_Glen 04-26-2012 10:42 AM

philly and st. louis looking pretty strong so far..

phoenix? yeah right.. goalies can get you far in the playoffs but you can't have 8 shots a game and expect your goalie to stop 40-50 a night.. you can get away with it for a series or two but not get to the finals.. goalies steal games, not cups.

cross town/state series between Philly and Jersey should be good but the Flyers are superior talent wise - Bryzgalov can be shaky, Brodeur can be Brodeur, so it could go 6 or 7 - tho my guess is Flyers in 5.

Rangers versus Washington will be close, maybe Ovechkin will finally be the difference.

the West - who cares, I barely follow the Western conference. The Predators are very solid and would be my bet to come out of the West. I'd love to see the Kings or Blues in the Cup final - two of the 1967 expansion franchises that have never won a Cup.

CDSmith 04-27-2012 11:04 AM

And for the first time since 1996 there are no Canadian teams in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Several teams I like though that are still alive. Round 2 should be great.

Is Luongo going to end up playing for the Leafs?

You nailed it.

Wow LA Kings are rocking round 2 so far. They are decimating the Blues piece by piece.

If it comes to it, a Coyotes - Kings conf final will be a great series.

Blake Rusko 05-01-2012 10:45 AM

Kings all the way!!!! Quick is too quick.

CDSmith 05-04-2012 07:18 AM

Guys, these may very well be the last NHL playoffs we see, if the mayan calendar/2012 thing turns out to be correct. :D

:(

They're looking good. Blues may be the favorites according to the regular season but their inexperience in getting this far in the playoffs is showing. They're taking some pretty needless penalties, and Elliot hasn't been very stable for them either. I'm starting to think they should put the kid in net for game 4 just to see how he does, but I doubt they'll do it.

New Jersey takes a series lead with their OT goal last night. That's a great series so far.

Round 2 is pretty good so far.

really surprised how the kings have walked all over the blues, they had the best GA and haven't really put up a fight. kings getting richards at the trade deadline is pushing them deeper into the playoffs

if philly got a decent goalie, man they would be unstoppable. bryz lets in too many soft goals

Mutt 05-04-2012 07:48 AM

The first round is always the best round - u have multiple games every night, you've been anticipating the playoffs all winter and all the teams come out flying, forgetting that the playoffs are a marathon. Second round i always lose some interest, even when my team is in it, the play isn't as frantic, interest builds again in the third round because the Holy Grail is now within view.

Please don't let the New Jersey Devils win, they have always been bad for hockey, whether it was their clutch and grab neutral zone trap or their pathetic Stanley Cup parades held in the parking lot of their arena off the turnpike.

I knew the Blues weren't ready for a Stanley Cup run. It would be great to see the Kings in the Stanley Cup final.

RevSand 05-04-2012 09:34 AM

GO KINGS! Great game last night and I will be at the game on Sunday.. Crossing fingers for a sweep..

I'm sensing a sweep here as well. If so they could have a good-sized rest while they wait for round 3.

splifchief 05-04-2012 01:09 PM

Devils all the way!! Marty's gonna get another cup!

Richards, yes, but the other thing that's pushing the Kings deeper into the playoffs is the fact that they've been this far before, and are playing like they know enough not to take stupid retaliatory penalties. The Blues unfortunately aren't playing as disciplined as this stage of their cup run calls for, and they're paying for it.

Coyotes up 3 games to 1 on Nashville! Loving it :thumbsup

I see Kings/Yotes for the western conf.

garce 05-04-2012 11:10 PM

After all the crap the team has gone through over the past few years, I call the Coyotes to lose the Western Conference final in seven games. That team deserves it!

In the East? I hate them all, don't give a fuck. Ottawa and Vancouver are gone - I'm happy. I'll pick Washington because I like the kid in net.

Washington vs Los Angeles for the cup - a NEW champion. First time winner.

I could go for that but with the Kings winning it.. :thumbsup

Don't count Nashville out yet.

I predict they put Radulov and Kostytsin back into the lineup for game 5. :D

CDSmith 05-06-2012 10:31 AM

In just a few short hours the Blues could be on their way to the golf course. Would like to see them win at least one though, but at this point it's not looking good for them.

Should be a good game though.

Best series in round 2 --- I'm going to say Capitals-Rangers. Would love to see a game 7 there.

:1orglaugh I think we can count them out now! COYOTES WIN! Onto Kings! :thumbsup

Far-L 05-08-2012 12:28 AM

Penguins gone.

Blues gone.

Kings just went from being my third favorite team to being the only team I can in good conscience still root for to go all the way.

Flyers are coming apart in pieces because they can't bedevil the Devils like they did the Pens. Caps lost a game they should have taken for the stupidest penalty I have seen a player pull in any of the games so far but my fingers are crossed that they can still pull off a miracle... or at the very least leave the Rangers with no gas in the tank.

Smith is insane, sure, but the guy is so freaking big that most of the pucks are just swallowed up because he covers the majority of the space... and when he comes out I think his whole team stops breathing and thinks "not again!" (while I bet Smith is probably thinking "how can I make this more challenging?")

Coyote and Kings will be a clash of the titanic goalies but I think the Kings offense has finally figured out how to put a goal or two in the net...

IIII'm not so sure I'd have included that laughing smiley. It was a damn close game. With the post hits by the Preds and several scoring chances that I still can't fathom how the puck stayed out the score could just as easily been 4-2 or even 5-2 for Nashville.

But you're right, they're out, and moreover I think in the offseason that team (Nashville) is going to see some serious personnel changes. Several of their top players will be free agents soon for one thing.

Coyotes-Kings should be a great series. I think I'll go ahead and predict Kings in 6, possibly 7.

joerudy1988 05-08-2012 08:02 AM

When you leave the door wide open and hang a sign out front that says "thieves welcome" can you really call it being robbed?

I think 'owned' might be a better word.
