The guy was an idiot to attempt to drive off, however the Officers reaction was way way over the top.

Hitting the guys car, slamming him on the ground, abuse, leaning all over the car (bet he did that bullshit to scratch it on purpose) and then developing a fake limp for the cameras :1orglaugh

I'm completely willing to defend myself right up to taking a persons life if need be. It makes no difference to me what costume they are dressed in.

I have no respect for the revenue collection aspects of their job, but I also have no specific animosity towards any of the police I have encountered in real life.

The cop then steps in front of the front tire and ends up getting his foot run over. The cop should have just let him go. Once he had his license plate number, which is typically the first thing they fill out on the ticket, they will just mail you the ticket.

A cop did kind of the same shit to me and eventually I got 4k and a clean record because of it.. :upsidedow

the correct answer was stated already. However, & I'm not saying this as an OG thug, but most people have had some trivial run ins with the law, & last thing you do is what this guy did. I'm on the cops side on this one. The word "detain" was used. Define detain. A cop on the street basicly becomes a traffic sign. If he says stop, effn stop. Defining "detain" is irrelevant.
admittedly, some police officers don't always portray themselves the way the public sees fit, however, this officer got his foot ran over. He was litterally threatened with a deadly weapon & did a pretty good job of keeping his cool.

leave and go where, he was blocked in by traffic. he was just being a douchbag he saw the cop there, probably thought he was better than him and was about the law since he had a Ferrari

In the video description, it actually says that the car was not parked illegally, it was in the hotel valet parking.

So mr plod was going out of his way to issue a fine for what reason? We could speculate that he was jealous of oldmates car and decided he would *get him* by asserting his *authority*.

Phoenix 08-06-2012 05:14 AM

i want to see how this plays out.
getting your foot run over from a car is not a big deal, the cop was acting.
when a cop asks you to stop you stop...who cares about a parking ticket?

however, the cop had no right to detain the guy, and decided to stick his foot out to illegally detain a person from leaving with their property. I am guessing lawyers will make money on this one. And yes as pointed out, that idiot cop will be riding the disabled workers highway forever now.

in the end...no one wins...except whoever is banging that girl next

Question: "How does any of that make it ok to run him over with the car?"

Answer: "It doesn't. Not under any circumstances."

tony286 08-06-2012 05:52 AM

Actually any ticket is in lieu of arrest so they could arrest you for a parking ticket in theory.

seXXXhub 08-06-2012 06:17 AM

that cop sure sucks like 99% of cops from US, they think they are gods ... who will pay for the scratches from the car ?
the moron cop sure diserves a beating when he's off duty ...

ACAB !

MaDalton 08-06-2012 06:22 AM

i am not surprised cops are so trigger happy in the US when half of the people so openly hate on them.

so what was first - hen or egg?

I am missing the part where he deliberately ran over anyone. The cop stuck his foot under the car, there is a big difference and I guarantee you will fly off the handle without even considering it.

Even if the car was not parked illegally?

baddog 08-06-2012 02:40 PM

LOL at those of you that say the cop was faking it. You have absolutely no idea what part of his foot was run over or how it felt

baddog 08-06-2012 02:43 PM

(the car was parked in a hotels valet zone and the hotel valet had the keys, I myself don't understand why the cop was giving him the ticket, it was approved by the hotel that the car was parked there.)

If that was true, how did the guy start driving it?

I think there was plenty of stupidness to go around in this situation. The cop was stupid to put his foot in front of the tire and the other guy was stupid for trying to leave. They were both out of line here but as usual, authority will always win.

No front plates and no inspection sticker. BOTH are requirements in NY state. That's what the cop was writing the ticket for.

I can understand the no front plate thing...hell...I refuse to drill holes in the front bumper of my CLS63 AMG (less than half the price of the 458) - but not having an inspection sticker is just dumb. It takes a minute or two to get one on a brand new car.

campimp 08-06-2012 08:43 PM

fucker deserved what he got

it doesn't matter to me what the law is... if a cop tries to stop me, i stop. its called being an adult, this guy was just being an ass.

he did not try to leave because he thought to himself this cop was trying to stop him but didnt have the law on his side.... he was thinking to himself he was a rich kid used to getting away with shit and figured he would just drive off.

any normal person would have stood there for 10 seconds, took the ticket from the cop, and then driven off

sobecash 08-13-2012 12:12 PM

that brat deserved it

The cop never detained anyone. He was writing a ticket when the owner of the car decided he could get out of the ticket by driving away. In the process he ran over the officer's foot. I'm not sure what planet your from, but you cannot run over someone's foot, period, ever, and then just drive away as if nothing happened. That's not only assault, it's assault with a deadly weapon. The police officer - Felix Recio - went to the hospital after the incident.

I wondered about that as well. Did he have the authority to detain him? If not, it would explain why he did not direct him to remain.

Also he started out in front of the car, but then moves to the side and shuffles his feet in front of the front tire. It seems like he was waiting for the kid to run over his foot so that he could claim he was assaulted, and arrest him.

Do I think that the kid was a prick? Definitely. But this cop baited him.

You can't just drive away when you are having a ticket written, use your brain for 2 seconds. The dick head in the Ferrari had it coming to him, for thinking he can just do what ever the fuck he wants. Cop should have beaten him a lil TBFH.

For those of you that say cops aren't above the law, you are an ideologue. They are above the law. Unfortunate but true. They arrest people. They know the cirminal justice system inside and out. They also may know judges, prosecutors, etc. It's what they do, day in and day out - they have the advantage for the most part.

The kid should've taken the ticket. If he felt the ticket was in error, he could've had his day in court if he really wanted to invest the time to fight it, vs paying the fine.

Instead he tried to get slick, and ended up with a day in jail and a felony. He's also an internet sensation for doing it, so not sure if thats good or bad for him. I guess thats for him to decide.

You may not like cops. I sure as hell don't. But I know better than to fuck with them, cause they can fuck with me back harder. You don't fuck with people who serve you your food, and you don't fuck with cops.
