The funny thing is under the Obama administration there are Federal grants available where towns can apply for that will allow them to hire an extra police officer or two based on their need. They are offered in response to towns being hard up for cash since the bottom fell out but still in dire need of police services. The goal is to pay the salary for a year or two while the towns work on fixing their budgets since tax revenues are down so much.

I do know our home town got some money from the federal government for equipment... Our town bought some license plate readers. They are fucking cool really - They sit up by the sirens and scan and read license plates, and automatically check them through the computer and give cops a warning if if a plate is late on their tags or is a suspect or something.

But people need to understand that the Federal government cannot fix everything - starting with police officers. Great, there are grants that will be pay the salary for an officer or two - but that's not going to help Stockton California that was full of crime before the recession and cut backs. And an officer or two is not going to help my hometown who has slashed 1/3 of it's officers - and is still starving for equipment.

But whatever. They made wild accusations and back it up with nothing. They show video footage of reporters talking about leaks and it looks bad, but the truth is they aren't talking about the Bin Laden raid - One of them says "Drip drip drip what's up with all of the leaks during the first year of the Obama administration?" while the truth is Obama took office in 2009... The first year of his administration puts us into January of 2010, while Obama was killed in 2011. It's a slick video that completely distorts the truth.
