However begging for money won't get you anywhere, EVERYONE expects a hand out. I suggest you go look for work, post on CL or freelance boards and try to pick up a few people. Charging someone $500 for SEO/SMO won't be the difficult if you have a track record of success, then all you need is 4 clients and you have your $2,000 that you EARNED rather than trying to borrow from someone.

First thing tomorrow you should create a solid resume and get 3 testimonials of people that you worked with in the past. Put it together in a nice PDF file then just start looking around for companies in your area. Show up at their door with your printed PDF from staples in a nice cover with a contract in hand saying you normally charge $1,000 for this but you are helping out local businesses and will do it for $500 if they signup today.

Just my :2 cents: and exactly what I will be doing to recover this huge loss and I'm certain in 3 weeks I will have more than what I need.

In my case I decided to fund a business out of my own pocket and partnered with people who are not giving it 100%, so now I need to give it 300% to make up, but that was MY RISK and its MY FAULT, so now its time to shine :winkwink:

Good points, and I feel like an asshole for asking publicly..

I'll try making up a resume and see how that goes. I wouldn't think that local businesses would pay a single local guy up front that much money for the first job, though, but I can always try and I have some great references.

Storage auctions :winkwink: I once put a bid on one for 5 bucks and flipped it for 3000..just need a truck and help and repost that stuff on craigslist ... My storage unit was full of Stetson hats sealed in boxes that belonged to companies. Theres many ways to make money..just have to think outside the box

Dont worry, there is usually one or two people a week asking for money here.

You have to have a success story, or this wont work for you. If you walk in and say "hey, my name is Mike, do you want SEO?" you will get the door shut in your face.

Most companies don't like working with big agencies because they know they will get fucked. Make up a story about how you used to work for them and you know you can do this better on a one-to-one relationship with the clients where they know exactly who is doing all the work.

Also, and probably most important, make sure to have some type of guarantee of service. Meaning... "if I don't do what I say, I will give you my money back, and its on this contract right here so you have nothing to lose." No one will hand you a dollar on a whim.

Make yourself professional and come prepared. Start with some that are out of your league to practice, then you will have more experience going after the smaller companies that you can close.

Good luck :thumbsup

I'm going to start with the T. Marzetti corporate office down the street. Might work since T. Marzetti was my great great aunt. It was bought out by a bigger food company years ago, though...

Let's see, you've been here 8 months and you've been impoverished that entire time?. You loaned all of your thousands out and are you're now broke? You're paying on a 60 year mortgage but you can't live there? Your electricity is cut off but you still have Internet access?

Get a job :2 cents:

I swear it's all true and I've been doing this much longer than just the time I've been on GFY..

I live at my dad's now, but my brother is at my apartment and without it, he's homeless like I explained. I'm fine but could use the help to make things much less complicated and can bounce right back to normal once I get everything that is owed to me plus a few checks at the end of the month..

Pathetic thread... no offence to the OP.

Over the years, with 3 kids, a wife, a dog, a house, etc etc... I've come close to hitting the skids more than once, and NEVER, never... would I come here and ask to "borrow" from random strangers.

What I did do tho, is explain my situation and asked if anyone had any WORK they could throw my way.

Want to panhandle? get off GFY and hit the streets like the rest of the bums.

Sorry man, I know some will read this reply and think "Whoooooaaa where's Mr nice MGK"

He's tired, and exhausted from working his ass of for years, and never asking for a handout.

You'll get thro this, but next time, think about offering to earn your way, before begging for it.

I've seen a few other people doing the same thing and thought I'd ask since I don't know what else to do right now, especially since someone big in the industry said I could borrow $1000 a couple of weeks ago and nothing so far.. If what I posted was really uncalled for, sorry about that.

What I meant was that it would be cool if there was an actual company who offered the service for a cut.

Sponsors would likely also want a cut so pay $0.85 on the $1 to 'Minimum Schminimum" who would then take 15% and give the rest to the affiliate.

So affiliates would essentially have to pay a 27.75% surcharge to use the service.

Probably not lucrative enough for a stand alone business, but a nice new revenue stream for a company with pre-existing sponsor relationships

Maybe Sign Bucks?

Edit: For example, a few years I was broke as shit living in the worst apartment that you can think of on a big college campus ghetto. So one day I found 3 late 90s computer cases with random components in an alley that I was able to rig together to barely work (333MHz, 1.2Gb HD, XP that was hacked and loaded to a blank desktop and no explorer.exe that I could exploit to open IE and work for 45 minutes at a time until it restarted with no warning..) and connected wirelessly to a 0.7Kbps connection from a donut shop 2 blocks away. Then I cashed checks at local head shops until I got to where I am today (2 houses and bought my dads house to stop foreclosure and gave my brother 10k a few months ago).

"I loaned my brother 10k"

Which is it? Anyhow just sell one of your two houses and you wont have a problem, btw you said you bought your fathers house so no foreclosure problem there right?

"So now I'm in a bad position with literally $12 in the bank with my power shut off and rent not paid for my own apartment a"

Your apartment? What happened with your two houses?

I was counting my dads as one of those and I haven't lived in the other house for a while, long story on that bs, too.

Also, I said I gave my bro 10k (with intention to pay back) so what's your question there?..

On top of that I was promised 4k last month, someone else also said I could borrow $1000 two weeks ago but apparently hasn't gotten paid from his advertisers to be able to loan that to me yet, and South Smoke fucked me over pretty bad saying that my money owed was forfeited because they didn't get my tax info, which I faxed twice already and they stopped answering my emails about it.

So now I'm in a bad position with literally $12 in the bank with my power shut off and rent not paid for my own apartment and I swear this is true, my brother had money that he owed me to pay for the electric bill and fucking got robbed last night and I had to pay for a new phone for him today, too..

Sorry for the wall of text, but if anyone could loan me $1000-2000 for a month or two, I promise I'll pay it all back with 10% interest and if you need anything at all done with blogging, blog network building, SEO/SMO, graphics, anything else I'll do it as part of saying thank you. I can also take bank wires (I'm in the USA) or Paypal.

Damn, this sucks to have to write, but I'd really appreciate any help. :(

All I can do is wish you good luck.

You can apply for foodstamps online and in many cases don't even need a face to face interview. That's a big relief and help until you can make money again. $200 a month for a single person with no income buys more food than you can eat.

If your rent isn't too high you can receive emergency aid to cover past rent once you've been served the eviction notice.

If you can make 15,000 last 8 months with your whole family leeching off of you, then that's awesome. :winkwink:

From a financial perspective, you're supposed to have 6 months income saved up. So, if just took the $15,000 that is $2,500/month. $2,500/month in terms of yearly income is around $40k/year (with taxes factored in).

Now a lot of people making $40k/year do not have 6 months income saved up. To be making that much and have that much saved up means you're REALLY ontop of your financials and are smart+conservative with your money.

So, you were either
A) Extremely smart with your financials and money
B) Making way more than $40k/year
C) You actually have the worst luck known to man
D) You're simply lying

If it's A or B, then you have the means to survive. You have skills to have been making that much, and you probably have things around you can pawn or sell. If you're in hard times then you have to live like you're in hard times. You can't be driving around your Mercedes asking for help on the car & insurance payments.

If it was C, then oh well get a new job. If you were making as much as you say you were. Then just take a pay cut finding another job. For someone supposedly of that caliber it should be a walk in the park getting a job.

But I think it's D, because I don't know man. You've posted that you were making $90/hour? That's 180k+/year. You shouldn't be asking for hand outs if that is the case. That is top 2-3% of the population in this country. No one with the skills/ability to make that much money needs a handout. Sounds to me like you were just a typical "gfy baller" like we've seen over the years.
