I always hate to hear that people took their own life, especially over money.

My heart goes out to his mother who had to write that email and as she said, continue to have many unanswered questions.

How sad. I didn't know him, but it amazes me that people consider this an option.

The other day was suicide awareness day, and we made sure to mention it to our kid.

Our local community has been hit hard by suicides too. A friend of us had a son, and one of his friends committed suicide. His girlfriend dumped him, and the two combined was too much for him. Him and another friend of his both committed suicide. Sad.

um ......... what would you rather have people do when they find out somebody has died? they could ignore the thread completely, they could reply 'didn't know him, who cares' or do what civilized people do and give their condolenses, if he was local to people they would attend his funeral i'm sure out of respect. people tell me 'i lost my father/son/daughter/wife/husband/whatever' all the time and I reply 'sorry to hear that' - and I am sorry to hear that but you're right it won't affect my life one bit and i won't think about it again. what are people supposed to do? sit in a dark room and force themselves to cry to show genuine sadness? if they can't do that then do or say nothing?

EVEN people who lose loved ones go on with living their lives, the alternative is to stop living and kill yourself too - it seems to you that's the only way to express any grief.

i never knew this guy at all, but i still feel bad that somebody felt so bad about their life that they killed themselves and burned their house down. gotta be in real pain to do that.
