Are you using their hosting or did you download an install from them?

Fungus: that's exoclick delivering a white add. I've been asking them about it, but they never seem to find the need to dive in to this. This particular banner is pushed by them as a JavaScript. That makes putting it in rotation a pain (unless you do full dynamic pages in php for instance). So I put an iframe in rotation, which loads a script on their site, which creates an iframe which loads the banner. All in all not a lot of thought was put in to that. I tried loading the iframe their JavaScript is generating straight away, but then I'll have no stats left. And that means not getting paid. Ah well... Guess I have to drop by in Barcelona one of these days ;-)

smart scripts is a good low resource alternative to the hammer and anvil that openx is, as for stats, just feed it all to http://www.splunk.com/

I just got word that exoclick does NOT use openX... my bad... I guess they saw the same drawback we did ;-)

Right now we're easily pushing 500K banners per hour on the mobile and the load on the server went down immensely compared to the old openX adserver. I'm happy. Few odds and ends that need to be completed and then it's back to programming stuff on thehun. Changes are coming up people! ;-)

Starting to get closed to finished. Server stats went down. Processor is almost idle now. We just switched to the new adserver for the horizontal leaderboard ads on thehun.net. Pushing over a million banners an hour on there, half a mil on mobile. Server is idle almost. Live stats for impressions and clicks, geo targeted, keyword targeted. Can't believe how much of a speed improvement this is. And then to think I was originally considering an extra server to be able to run openX. This is much faster and takes way less resources.

Anyway, I'm looking into making this usable for others. Working on a few odds and ends here. So next up will be click stats on iframe banners (runs in beta now!) and selling CPC and CPM. Almost there! ;-)

Still some odds and ends to be programmed before it could go out. Right now we're running all Ads on thehun through this. And I don't need a new server to run it. So I know I have a product in my hands that could be the base of a new company. I'll have to think it over since that takes time which is scarce... I'll keep you posted!

Before you beta test, you might want to run 10-15 days worth of traffic to see if the stats slow to a crawl.

Care to share what you are using? Software wise.

It is geo targeted, not mobile ISP targeted. That might be something to look in to.

I probably won't allow the code the be installed on another server... Don't want to have the source out in the open I think... All depends on the model I want to push this in. Most likely it'll be leased out including a dedicated server, or part of a virtual one (can easily be done with the little resources we use right now. And charge like the openX hosted, maybe a little less. I'll have to figure it out, I need support to be set up and all... Might be looking for a callaboration with a host out there.

maxmind have a geo-isp that works to identify mobile operators, so far done a pretty good job and monthly updates. There is a shit load of funky stuff you can do once you know the operator.

Oh and of course handset identification, but thats a given really.

Nothing is for free, I know. Stuff doesn't always cost money, but it's never for free. Actually I've been to a lot of these shows this year. Vegas, Mallorca, Barcelona, Munich, Amsterdam, Prague. Booking Vienna for next week. Having fun!
