In Socialism, you'd lose both your cows as well - Socialism is not to be confused with Social Democracy (which is almost as silly). In the words of Ludwig von Mises, both Socialism and Communism involve a common ownership of the means of production - the only difference is the way of trying to achieve it.

I love the part about the french going on strike for an extra cow. (it is so true)

But I love it because I know if you look at french candiens in order to get an 3ieme cow would declare a revolution tranquille, have multiple référendums about if they should or should not have an extra cow and then end up giving 1 cow to Ottawa and paying taxes as if they had actually owned 3 cows.
