groovy evil death metal at the beginning, then

the whole album is intense

(and yes on the black metal, I listen to black metal more)

i remember this from back in the day. my buddy had it on tape and i stole it from him. the lead singer had an inverted cross tattooed on his forehead and claimed to be possessed.

He burnt/burns the inverted cross into his head until it scars. Once the scar begins to fade, he does it again. Read an interview with him years ago in like Metal Maniacs or something where he described the process in detail, and what provoked him to do it in the first place.

Haven't listened to Deicide in years, but always loved how they mixed the groove metal with death metal. Their self titled album was great, as was Once Upon The Cross.

Here let me throw this at you guys and see what you think.

Some of my metalhead friends in high school used to rip on me for listening to christian metal bands at the same time I listened to shit like Deicide. I still maintain that some of the christian death metals put out some of the heaviest shit I've heard. And for me, it was always about the music, not necessarily the message.

Anyone listening to some of the newer acts out there on the metal scene (I guess maybe metalcore, I really don't follow all of the sub-genres, so I don't know what you'd call it)? Lots of good djent/progressive stuff coming out of Australia right now, from some rather young up and coming acts nonetheless. Seems like a lot of less theatrical looking dudes playing heavy stuff, I dunno, I like it. Bands like Northlane (beastly vocals from this kid), In Hearts Wake, and some nice instrumentals from bands like Pomegranate Tiger.

Here's another fav as of late (nice homage to CC with their band name):

Also, one of the more unique rock/metal vids I've seen of late:

Fuck Yeah!! Thanks for all of the new finds. If any of you have any cannibal corpse similar bands, please let me know.

I went to school with Alex from CC. He went from a clean cut kid one year to a death metal bassist the next. It was an interesting transformation. Happy for his success they have been going strong for a long time.

Not death metal by any stretch, but this one of the most enjoyable metal songs ever! So much fun.

Their second album was also a classic, even though LG didn't sing on it

This thread reminded me of this Dutch band from ages. Although i don't know them personally they were part of the music scene in my area. A lot of awesome music came from that part of Holland.
I miss those days...
This is 20 years or so.

His voice is pretty sick.
