All these episodes in and I just can't bring myself to like him.

See. Thats just what I'm seeing now. It is going to be difficult to get used to any other doctors. It helps that I already enjoy Eccleston as an actor, aside from playing the Doctor.

I had no idea about Torchwood. SJ never mentioned it. Hmph! :disgust

oooh (resisting asking the obvious Tardis question).

Seriously, I do want to have something because what is the point of watching such a special on your own?

I can not wait for Tofu to meet Jack. I know he will be his favorite character.

Jack on Dr. Who is SO much better than Jack on Torchwood.

Rory didn't just die..he waited for so long for her as the guard and just got a 'thanks' sort of treatment.

Dude, it only took you years to listen to me that you would like Who. Why waste my breath on Torchwood? It is on Netflix instant though. Once you meet Jack..you will know when you do ..then start looking at Torchwood. Then you will understand why I went 'oooh' when we saw the autopsy chick during the episode where we meet Harriet.

I was wondering how long into the thread it would take to mention Captain Jack *swoon* I'm surprised it was this long.

As for the cake? It's smaller on the outside, yes :) And I agree - you can't have something that epic and watch it by yourself. Sorta how I watched the end of BSG.

Interesting. I liked Rose which was hard for me because I had to erase the pop career of the actress from my brain. I've believed the relationship between her and her Doctors more than the others recently. The make up and roots thing made her look exactly like the kids that live in her area of London looked like at the time.

But then I am the one that liked Donna (more challenging because I hate the actress generally) and thinks that they totally wasted Martha.

I loved Martha! She was incredibly smart and made for a great (and useful) companion. Although my favorite episode is Blink?which really doesn't have much of the doctor or martha. I'm just a huge fan of Steven Moffat's writing.

I think I've just met him. Episode 10 with the gas mask kids and their "are you my mummy" shit. I like Jack...bit of an arse, but I like that.

My question is; is the man who plays Jack an American actor or a British guy who does a good American impression?

I used to watch it back when I was like 5 until I was about 12. I had no idea this was what I was watching until I was about 28.

He's a total ass.. but he's amazing. And JEBBUS! those "are you my mummy" kids are creep as fuck. Keep an eye out as you watch, though, because you'll see callbacks to things in these earlier episodes. When the 11th Doctor just came back this season, there was an "are you my mummy" reference. :)

Captain Jack is played by John Barrowman. He's a Scottish-American actor. He was born in Glasgow and will show up on The Nerdist TV show on BCCAmerica from time to time -- he showed up last season for a segment "scottish or jibberish" or something like that. And he has an amazing voice. You should YouTube him!

Just wait til you get to the Bad Wolf episode (Season 1, Epi 12).

American but with Scottish roots, so he lives and works in the UK. He is a stage performer who has a good singing voice. However, he plays the 'grannies that buy albums for Christmas' market rather than sing anything good. I like him as a personality. You will like Jack a LOT as it goes on. I promise you. He has a lot in common with you. lol.

He has a while to go before he can't Blink but man I want to watch that with him. Best Dr. Who episode ever.

Bad Wolf is how you know everything in Who is planned out. Watch it from the first episode of the modern shows and you will see Bad Wolf stuff straight away. Great.

When they wrapped up that particular thread, I had to go back and re-watch a bunch of the episodes.

Speaking of things plotted out, you did catch the book that Clara comments Artie reading in Bells of Saint John? Specifically...the Author? And the chapters that are referenced? :) I dig Who for stuff like that.
