They spent 20 years teaching people to use the Start Button and then abandoned it without giving further direction, and wouldnt allow any hacks to put it back cuz they felt like it. And that decision has to cost them billions in lost revenue. lol fucking dumb.

Agree... very dumb the Microsoft did this.... but I am a multi-tasking beast.... And Windows 8 is smoother than any other version of Windows ever before.

Just install the free classic shell and everything is great:

You shouldn't have to do it - but this guy speaks the truth. Classic shell turns windows 8 into an updated windows 7. You can configure it to start your PC in desktop mode so you never have to see that fucking metro start screen ever again. I was sceptical - but classic shell is good.

Windows 7 is still better in my opinion, but if you have a new machine with windows8 - classic shell will save you, and do it well.

Just got a respond from acer support regarding sending me windows 7 installation media -
PHP Code:

There is a fee of £51.06 for a set of recovery discs for your machineYou can make a payment by debit or credit cardWe will create a case in our records for your request by taking your credentialsOnce we find the payment is donewe will send you a form requesting the details for the Microsoft windows keys located underneath your laptop

This is fucking crazy.I noticed you can buy windows 8 upgrade for less money,so i might go with that route instead considering windows 8 have faster loading time.

I think it's poorly done and I hate the new OS.

Do you mean they want you to have an @Microsoft (or @msn) email account? Or do they just want you to register and use the same account for products and services?

If it's the later its not a bad thing really. On Mac OS/X you register your computer with Apple by providing your email address and other info. After that though, ordering products and support is super easy.

I haven't tried Windows 8 yet. Is it better or worse than Windows 7? I'm guessing worse?
