Someone who always blows me away with her acting skill is Naomi Watts. She killed it in Mulholland Drive. I remember thinking "who the hell is this girl?"

12 years later, she still doesn't have an Oscar, but that Jennifer Lawrence chick already has one that Harvey Weinstein bought for her.

Always liked Jack Nicholson,Deniro,Nicolas Cage

Hackman is very good.

Good thread.

Tom Hardy (you ever watched The Take & Bronson?)
Denzel Washington (don`t think I have ever seen him play a bad part in a movie)
Morgan Freeman (for above reason)
Anthony Hopkins (so many different roles, so versatile)
Kevin Spacey
Sean Penn
Russell Crowe

:1orglaugh at those people who listed Tom Cruise & Jason Statham.

i wonder why everyone thinks jennifer lawrence is such a good actress. I only saw silver linings playbook with her and it was such a cookie cutter role, completely forgettable. Bradley cooper stole the show in there, together with the family (deniro etc). Maybe im missing something and she's had other better roles but ive never seen her other movies.

I think it was her in winter's bone which was very good. On the other hand you have house at the end of the street and the hunger games which were basically garbage. I think she is just like halle berry. If you give her a good role she can hold her own (monster's ball). If you give her crap she isn't going to save it from being bad. (Cat woman)

Dustin Hoffman - surprised no one's mentioned him yet. His role as Rainman still blows my mind.

I watched him in Papillon (with Steve McQueen) the other night - he was great in that as well.

Paul Newman was always a fave.
Tom Hanks, of course.
Sean Penn
Christopher Walken (awesome in The Deer Hunter)
Robert Downey Jr.

Jennifer Lawrence has been force fed to America by the Weinsteins. She's not any better than any other actress. Actually she kind of sucks in every movie I've seen her in.

She sucked on SNL because she's not that talented. Look at someone like Anne Hathaway, who can not only act, but sing just as well. That's talent.

Yeah was a bizarre film mate but as an actor, Hardy really seems to get stuck into the roles that he plays.
