I still would like to know what "official" policy is. |

Obviously this isn't what happened here based on the size of the kid alone, but an age is nothing more than an age. You tell me he tasered a 5 year old and yeah, I'm sure I'll agree with you. But a 12 year old? Not necessarily. |

First off, South St. Louis is not an area I would want to be in (ranked one of the most dangerous areas in the country.) Second, we have no clue what the kid did, or her mother did. Third, we have no clue what else was going on in the store. Now if this copper was an asshat after all the details come out, fire him, strip him of any medals and any pensions and any medical benefits. I don't buy the "she was only 12 years old" argument. 12-year-olds kill. Was this 12-year-old going to kill the copper? Highly unlikely, but acting like a 12-year-old can not pose a threat in a volatile situation is extremely naïve. How would the story be reading if the 12-year-old distracted the copper while the mother pulled a gun on the copper and put a bullet in his head? |

You need to understand the details of this case like Americans do. It works like this : The victim is black = just make shit up to rationalize away anything rational :1orglaugh |
We might not know the black and white details 100% that's true, but I can think of examples that inform my opinion anyway. Anyone remember the 8 year old girl who had a tantrum in class, the teacher called police and they handcuffed her because she wouldn't obey their commands?
There was a local story where a disabled man was dragged off a city bus and dragged down the street, breaking his hip, and was left in the lockup without medical attention for 14 hours. So yeah, I believe they would have acted rashly and just tased her because she didn't immediately comply. It's simply not abnormal police behavior in 2013.. it's quite common. Now on the flip side, I lived in a childrens home at that age and yes there were combative kids. I remember watching a 14 year old kid punch a teacher and knock him out right in the classroom. Was this similar to that? Was she throwing punches or not laying down on her stomach while every instinct in her body told her to try to protect her mother? I don't know the details. |

It took 62 posts but someone finally made it a race thing. I'm out of here.

I'm not saying the kid is going to do something, I'm saying the kid could do something. Furthermore, I'm not sure why we are all assuming that the first thing the copper thought to do is whip out his tazer. We have one two paragraph article and a video clip of a girl saying she was tazered. Hell in another thread just today we have Vendzilla going on about a 12-year-old girl lying during a congressional hearing about being molested just so her dad doesn't get custody! A 12-year-old is not some innocent three-year-old baby. They are smart, they can handle themselves, and they know what to do when they need to, especially a 12-year-old from a rough neighborhood. |

Lying 80 pound 12 year olds should be rounded up and kept in camps. Forced labour will bring them about. That way they can be taught to inform on their violent parking infraction mothers when the time is right. Hearts and minds...Hearts and minds. You taze them in the heart, and beat them in the head to win their hearts and minds. Am i right brother? |

what would you have done though? Pulled your tazer on her? All this cop has done is made sure this little girl and most likely all her friends and classmates have a hard on for authorirty figures. |

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh for saying you'd slap her on the ass. Yeah, THAT'S not gonna get any negative publicity. |

Instead he took the easy way out and whipped out his ray gun. |
Please define "slap." In what position do you form your hand? Is it a cup? A fist? A open palm?
It sounds like this fictional slapping copper likes little girls. Not good! |

First result on a quick google search... If any adult in a uniform came up to me as a kid and assaulted me, by grabbing my wrists and dragging me someplace I would definitely protest for self protection. Perhaps the uniformed man is a security guard, perhaps he?s a pedophile, perhaps he?s a killer, perhaps he?s an icecream man. In this case he was a police officer. Just because you have a uniform on does not mean you deserve respect. That last bolded part is part of the problem as I see it. Attitude. |

I was speaking about the cop. Escorpio made the point here that slapping on the ass could be construed as sexual assault. Perhaps he has a point there. I would also suggest that the cop had the option to explain to the mother that her child is going to make things worse and that he would be forced to arrest both of them. All we know so far is that he pulled his ray gun on a 12 year old girl. BTW if my child boy or girl is acting a fool i would much rather a slap on the ass, or arm, or leg so they know they are out of line. Skipping all the way to tase them is an idiotic response. |

Get a dictionary. Look up the meaning of "archetype." Now look up "mammy." |

I am not here to mince words with you. I think im done here, the brown shirts have all shown up now. The cop should have just executed her on the spot for civil disobedience. Happy now? |

Of course, my follow up post with the link showing the COP slapping the child should have cleared that up for you. Remember that you ARE a Canadian. Your ability to sue the police for anything is virtually non-existent. Americans live for this shit. The cop appears to have been in a NO win situation. People are going to scream that he reacted too harshly. If he took your advice, you can be sure Al Sharpton would be making a case on the nightly news for sexual assault...civil lawsuit to follow. |

If you disagree with my opinion, that's completely fine, but you don't need to over exaggerate my opinion into something that it's not. Now I fully realize that you were playing and meant no ill will, just like you should fully realize that I was playing and meant no ill will with the definition of a slap. Take a breather, it's football season for Christ sake! |
Quote:
Even if a 12 year old was beating me i could have handled the situation without even beating the 12 year old. If you can't figure out how yourself... I fully understand why it's ok for you to taze a 12 year old. If you can't control a 12 year old physically without a weapon or even brutal force, you should not be a cop. Force should be proportionate. |

They're trained in how to restrain a person. Throw her down and kneel on her back. Just watch an episode of COPS and you'll probably see a few ways to control someone without tasers, batons or guns. Who said you can't cause pain? Cause pain if you need to. It's generally going to be painful when you're in a physical altercation. I think the deal here is a feeling of "trigger happy" on the old tase device.

Hey guys, this story is actually over a year old: http://www.ksdk.com/news/article/330...ctorias-Secret
We could probably stop the conjecture and actually find out what happened by now! |

Let's be clear. The article says officers. So that isat least two. So two police officers ccouldn't control two small females, one of them being 12 years old.
Tase away |
