Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

I'm sure in your world winning internet duels with complete strangers on the web somehow makes your life a little less miserable. Unfortunately, the rest of us do not need to fake our own death to get attention. As for baddog, I guess he will fight all night to try and prove he's more right about something than the next stranger. Whatever makes your life tolerable I guess. Different strokes and all that.

I'm disgusted with the current state of healthcare. I've had a painful hernia for 2 years now that I wish I could get repaired. Unfortunately, I make too much to qualify for any assistance, even though I live paycheck to paycheck (because of past medical debt).

I work for a place that does all of the healthcare claims and payments for our state's insurance. So, I get to see all these people who don't want to work, would rather sit around playing games & smoke pot all day than lift a finger, get free healthcare, 100% paid for by my taxes. Yes, I know some people legitimately need assistance, but most of our members don't.

God, if it weren't for needing to be here for my kids, I'd be out of this country so fast.

Have any of you been negatively impacted by the shutdown yet? Me neither.

2MuchMark 10-03-2013 08:30 AM

Lol!! Fox News.

Prez Obama just gave a speech that was covered by all major networks including CTV and CBC here in Canada. The only network not to cover the speech? Fox. What a bunch of losers.

It was a great speech - Obama is really nailing Boehner now.

Lol!! Fortunately the world doesn't revolve around you.

So far, 800,000 Federal Employees are out of work without pay which is about $200 Million in lost income and money to the economy. Communities near parks are losing $76 Million Per Day. Yosemite National Park is now closed.

Domestic violence shelters in Montana and Vermont are no longer being paid and may have to closed.

Scientific research labs, most recently exploring a new type of meningitis in Hawaii and water quality in Tarpon Bay Florida are now closed. "Head Start", the health and nutrition program for low income kids has stopped. Preschools have closed in Calhoun Country, Alabama. Over 60,000 civilian employees at 16 US Intelligence agencies are now without work.

You really need to get your head out of the sand, Baddog. Don't you think it's sad that a foreigner like me cares more about this than you do?

I have seen where the same plans for people already paying are Cheaper, Staying the Same, or not worth it. So it just depends on what you shopped around to find, and what State you live in.

My state, I guess if you make Zero, we didn't take the expansion for medicare or whatever, so unless it is deemed medically necessary for your life you don't get approved according to my friend who needs shoulder surgery.

I didn't realize there was any where in this country that atleast basic PIP auto insurance wasn't mandatory. I guess that is one more thing to make me say wtf about Cali. Yes in florida it is mandatory as it should be every where.

*edit* Ok I see now your point was if you don't drive it is not mandatory or you can pay 35k to avoid it. Personally I think being allowed to pay 35k to not have insurance is bullshit being even a small accident can rack up more than that amount in medical bills but that is just my personal opinion. I for one am in support of people being required to have insurance for the privilege of driving not to protect themselves but to protect the other people on the road.

So basically what you are saying is people don't have to go work, work doesn't get done, AND we pay them later on? In other words park rangers don't go to work but we pay them for work they didn't once Congress pulls it's head out it's ass?

Well, police officers are considered essential. Park rangers are not.

The difference between the two is one is important, and the other we want. We want public parks, thus, we must pay park rangers.

And?

Companies can do whatever the fuck the want. When it comes to the government, it's our tax dollars so we have a vested interest. Parks are shut down and park rangers are being sent home, only to receive pay for work they didn't do. That's our tax dollars being wasted - we are paying money and getting nothing in return.

whether you love or hate the idea of gov mandated/subsidized health coverage...one thing is certain = 10's of millions of people who would otherwise be uninsured will soon be insured.

once this happens...no administration even a Republican President...will be able to put that toothpaste back in the tube...it will soon be as entrenched as social security and it's never going away,

Calling it Obamacare will just fade away and it will just blend into the fabric of society...anyone who predicts it will fail or be repealed is just shaking an angry fist at the clouds.

It's way more than 800k my aunt whom works for a NASA contractor has been out of work since the first day. If it goes on more than 2 or 3 weeks they will all be officially laid off. Most of the people she works will are all not working and they aren't counted in that 800k. There are a lot of businesses both large and small that are effected by this and most of them aren't counted in that 800k number.

However the die hard Republicans will still once again vote for their favorite knuckle dragging tea party because the kook aide is strong with them and they actually think it's all Obamas fault..

I think Chris Matthews said it best on Meet the Press this past Sunday. He said something like, you know that phrase throwing the baby out with the bathwater? Well congressional republicans are asking Obama to throw out the baby directly. It's not going to happen. It's his only legislative accomplishment and it's something that Democrats have been trying to do for generations and they're acting like he's supposed to just trash it in the name of compromise when they don't even have a plan to replace it. Nobody will blame him for that in the real world. They're asking too much.

You're quoting Chris "I'm a shouting asshole who was handed everything by my dad" Matthews? I don't need to read the rest. What do you actually think, untainted by a talking head that would spit on you and have you beaten if you needed help or got to near his limousine?

Cash Bond

Most people can't afford a cash bond, so they have to buy insurance.

The problem with a cash bond, is if you can do that you must have other assets. You may never be responsible for an accident, but if you're in one, all the other driver's lawyer has to do is convince the jury you're at fault. Then they can go after your other assets. Usually when you have insurance, the other side just sues for the maximum of the insurance.
