Same here although there are a few of the tired day job workers who look frazzled coming home.

You know damn well that look of disgust and hostility from your neighbor because they leave out for work at 8:30 am every morning and they come home at 5:30 pm in the afternoon wiped the fuck out.

There you are Mr. & Mrs. Gfy John and Jane Doe

Sitting there with your vehicle in the same spot all day and full of energy and upon your neighbors return from work they break their routine for a split second to glance over at you with slanted and perched eye brows with a slightly audible sound of suck teeth.

Then you say hey how's it going today....and they respond..."Just tired some people have to work for a living"

Then you reply "hey I feel your pain there is never enough rest for us weary folk" as you suggest to them that you can identify with their pain.

Then one final and persuasive time they slowly whip there head back around and look at you with that *LOOK*

That unmistakeable...LOOK....you know like you are an abomination for not having to leave the comfort of your home and face the elements to punch the clock.

I know I am not the only one who is a regular recipient of the *LOOK*

Sara, most "normal" people are not home from 9-5 so if you minimize your exposure during those hours you'll fit right in. Not exactly a bright idea to go outside and wash your car in the driveway at 11:30 or check the mailbox at 2pm wearing flip flops and a tshirt. Fit it, blend in, garage that car. etc. By the way if your neighbors are home during the same daylight hours as you makes you wonder what they're into :2 cents:

I didn't read all of the replies....but...that being said.
Here in Vegas, that doesn't (or would rarely) happen, becuse we're a 24 hour city, with varying shifts of work to keep things rolling.

BUT...since I work from home, and am not out and about all of the time, I do sometimes get a "who the hell is he?", look...even though I have been in the same place for ten years, LOL! But, that has more to do with, I keep to myself, and don't WANT to know neighbors and stuff...so they don't get too "neighborly" and "drop by out of nowhere"...

I don't have any neighbours ...

bronco67 10-18-2013 10:24 AM

My neighbors probably wonder why they see me heading our for a walk with my dog, when they're heading off to work. Then they come home later and I'm just returning from the gym. They never ask me about it, but they don't realize that I could be working for 2 hours on one day, then I'll have to stay up 3 days straight. Or maybe I take a week off, then go non stop for 2 months.

Making my own hours rules ---- and I could never plug back into the 9 to 5 matrix.

ottopottomouse 10-18-2013 10:39 AM

Truth is, being mad as a sack of badgers you'd fit right in with the genuinely workshy.

Don't get on a bus during the middle of the day unless you want to be confronted by the sort of characters you only thought existed in fiction.

hahaha, so now we are getting on the next level shit, if my neighbours are home when I am home, THEY must be selling drugs or unemployed living off the system .. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

PornDude 10-18-2013 11:23 AM

Nobody gives a fuck what I do. Only people from the gym are curious.

Exactly, im living in 19 century country where people don't understand that internet exists and it's normal that someone gotta work over the internet and from home. I had really big problems to explain people all what i work and that it's normal, milions of people work from home. Until one day pressure got so high that i told them to go fuck them self. All of them who don't like how i earn for a living and don't and won't understand me.

I am 4 years younger than my brother, started working from 22 years and now im 27 years, and never had a working day in some company and achieved twice more in my life than my brother who is working from 16 years.

So why would i feel bad? because they are too stupid to understand me?

So to the OP just don't mind about that stuff who cares how you work, what you work, and where you work. And you shouldn't care either how they look at you. As long as you are happy with that business and satisfied, be friendly with those who mind their own business and :321GFY those who give you "THAT" look.

SilentKnight 10-18-2013 03:06 PM

I gave up caring what my neighbours think a long, long time ago.

Life's too short.

CyberHustler 10-18-2013 03:16 PM

Fuck neighbors...

SwirlsGirl 10-18-2013 03:57 PM

I absolutely loved reading all of your responses, and it makes me proud that I chose this industry and proud to be amongst so many of you who have extracted themselves from the matrix and remain true to themselves regardless of what others may think or say!

Freaking awesome and I know at the end of the day we don't agree on everything as an industry but we can often times relate to the exact same situations we encounter on a daily basis.

Thanks for making this an interesting and entertaining thread!

It sure beats conspiracy theories eh?

rowan 10-18-2013 04:25 PM

I've never had "the look" but-

1) My immediate neighbours can probably see some blinking server lights from their second storey window, so at least they don't think I'm a drug dealer (hopefully)

2) I love doing a 7am munchies run knowing that I'm going in the opposite direction to everyone else that's trying to get to work. Me: 100 & cruising. Them: 20 in stop-start traffic.

Zeiss 10-18-2013 04:26 PM

Oh! The LOOK! :1orglaugh

EddyTheDog 10-18-2013 04:35 PM

I live in Hackney - The last person with a job here was driven out years ago...

I got 'the look' the other day because I had an M&S carrier bag.....

J. Falcon 10-18-2013 04:56 PM

I get that look, not really from neighbors but mostly I've heard grumblings from the doormen at my building. Nosy fuckers. I heard (from a neighbor/friend) that they have said I'm "weird" because I come in and out at odd hours and that "who knows what he does for a living". They seem to be bitter because they consider themselves working men who come in to work every day, even it is a mundane job like holding doors open. Envious cocksuckers love to hate.

Bourke 10-18-2013 05:25 PM

Most of our neighbours are nurses (big teaching hospital within walking distance) and so work weird shift hours. I told them all I work in the entertainment industry. My wife working regular hours lends a little 'normalcy' to the household.
