Work At Manwin On The M-100 Project?

If you work for Manwin on the M-100 project you might want to update your resume. The project ends in October and you are going to be laid off most likely.

Lots of movement at Manwin lately, stories coming but I figured the folks working there would want a heads up.

Still no trial date for Fabian Thylmann, who remains under house arrest.

Success? Fabian regretted leaving.

His exact words were, "It is with a sad heart that I have to announce that I have decided to sell Manwin to Manwin's top Management Team. Please believe me that this decision has been one of the hardest in our lives for both my wife and myself."

This clearly indicates that everything did not end successfully the way in which Fabian wanted (his departure is as cloudy as his arrival).

How much money Thylmann will actually end up with remains to be seen. It appears that Fabian borrowed and leveraged to acquire much of his paper empire, so he has to pay back a lot of money to a lot of people, in addition to the government of Germany.

The fact that his treasured German Playboy club (which Fabian was a major investor in) opened and then folded so quickly earlier this year, suggests that although he sat as the titular head of a vast porn conglomerate, Fabian Thylmann's personal finances were not doing so good (especially after having to post a large multimillion dollar jail bond as a result of his tax evasion arrest - and I imagine he still will have some pretty hefty future legal bills).

There are different ways to measure success or failure. Money is one, but happiness is another, and if Fabian was telling the truth in his farewell letter, then while I am sure he can look back at where he ascended to and feel good about that, and he will likely have some money in the bank (and hope that he doesn't end up back in jail for a longer stay), his long fall from being proclaimed the King of Porn to end up basically being thrown out by the people he once bailed out (and led), must sting of bitter defeat, no matter how many zeros are in his bank account. :2 cents:

Diomed...keep in mind that Manwin is a company that owns and operates sites that have been a big part of helping to completely devalue the content of every producer in this industry.

The sites have been full of stolen content that was the whole reason that they got that massive traffic and that "wealth" you are talking about.

I think that if Manwin/Mansef had grown so giant because of their actual WORK, then it would be a lot different. But JugCash wasn't that big. It was the stolen content given away for free on PornHub and monetizing that content via prepaid ad spots that launched Manwin/Mansef into a juggernaut.

It was definitely built on the backs of every company in this industry by simultaneously devaluing the content and generating revenues from ad spots from the traffic.

You know that.

So to think that Mike South just decided out of thin air to "obsess" over Manwin is bullshit.

I can assure you that there are hundreds, if not thousands of content producers who HATE that fucking company and every pirate site out there that has cost so many people a large chunk of their livelihoods.

I hope you enjoy your Mac. It was bought in part by the hard work of honest content producers who never saw a thin dime from Manwin/Mansef making money off the hard work that those content producers did.

Everybody cheering about this great "success" story. Only...the guy who is your hero didn't do anything for this success but help cripple the industry and then buy the crippled companies for pennies on the dollar.
And keep in mind that sites like Pornhub have also helped to decimate the affiliate business model. How many folks had to walk away from adult because of that? How many people were making good money as affiliates and had plans for their children (college, etc) only to find that is all over?

I think most people knew it had to happen eventually. The devaluation of the product even hits the tubes. Adult Ad revenue cannot stay high forever in this climate. They had to bring in mainstream advertisers (companies selling products which aren't being made available for free) and they've largely been unsuccessful with that. I think that was Fabian's plan, merge mainstream with adult more to open up and secure revenue for those tubes.

The loan goes with it but you don't then pay 600 million and assume 300m loan. It nets out to pay 300m assume 300m for total of 600m. Personal corporate or whatever the loan is still a large monetary issue.

I was thinking the same thing? The guy wrote NATS but I doubt he had a 100 million to buy in with and he is leaving with 100 mil plus 200 mil owed and after just 4 years. Only on GFY is that being forced out, blah blah blah.

Not sure if anyone has put this together as obviously Mike South didn't - His tax problems stem from his corporation. I don't remember the details but it was something to do with how he was paying the German workers out of Cyprus and got bigger from there. They didn't arrest him and 3 other guys. They didn't arrest the CEO or CFO etc. On paper at least the buck must look like it stops with him.

I wonder about those ad buys, too. I surf the tubes every day just to check on my uploads and ALL I see (with a couple minor exceptions) are ads for cams and dating. Oh - and those GIANT Manwin-owned paysite ads BLASTING at me every 3 seconds. Sometimes I can't even watch the video and must stare at the ads......ah yes, that's the point eh?

So if cams and dating stay strong I could see ad revenue remaining strong. But how long will Manwin continue to push their paysites and give them that kind of ad space? There would come a point where even Brazzers Memberships would dwindle and those ads would be replaced, no?

What about the bigger penis ads? How many of those can they really sell?

I always wonder why you don't have a longer view here since you go way back. The truth is that back in the day CE and CEN etc. also benefited hugely from content that was not exactly in their rights to use and tgp, lists, etc. all were rife with misappropriated content... and people made the exact same arguments then about the death of industry, free content, blah blah blah. Back then, the go-to adage was "Content doesn't matter, traffic is king" and that belief opened the door to widespread abuse of rights.

The fact is that your involvement in AL4A or whatever meant you were part of that same content theft apparatus that you now chide Manwin over. I think only when you became a content producer - targeting a niche you knew from your experience would sell - did you start to see things from that ownership/authorship side of the fence. :2 cents:

Given their track record of abusing copyrights, paying uploaders, etc., I am not optimistic about seeing any significant improvements at Manwin, and expect that they will cloak themselves even further in secrecy (since they have a lot to hide).

I already got an e-mail from Paul Markham with a speech.. good lord. If you want to know where I stand about Manwin just read my previous posts, excluding this one.

The truth is I do think Mike South is a self-aggrandizing show pony.. Some things have been true, some not.. More of a throw a stack of shit at the wall and see what sticks type of deal. But what niggles me is this "look at me" aspect of his approach.

I have respect, for anyone trying to feed their family.. within reason. People who legally work with tubes as means of evolution, people who run legal tubes, and good people who find ways to profit off of illegal tubes.

Again, for the record.. "Paul and Robbie".. I completely understand the trickle down affect.. illegal tubes along with new cc regulations have definitely taken a bite out of my business as well. Anyone running an illegal tube and stealing from others as means of profit is a right cunt - no two shakes about it.
