Do you think you could create the same site and have the same success if you started all over today?

Interesting. Would you like to hear my idea - obviously I will need like years before I start making serious money with what I do - I can see opportunity within the joke - how can I get in touch with you so I can share my idea and to get your feedback ?

Bucket list of places to visit? :)

Do you have children? For some reason I assume you do. How did you handle your year of travel with them? School wise? Would you recommend it?

If I understand your question correctly..
Could I start Twistys today and enjoy the same success I had? The answer is absolutely not. There were two major parts to my success.

#1 was my traffic network at the time was large and quite valuable. I sent large amount of signups to a number of sponsors. Using that traffic to start my own paysite was a huge advantage and great way to test tours and retention without spending money and without damaging my brand with affiliates.

#2 affiliates played a huge role in our growth. I worked very hard to have great relationships with my affiliates. Many of them are still friends of mine and when I see them post on facebook I think of them by their affiliate id ie tcranks instead of by name :)

The internet has changed a lot. Starting a new site would be very hard to do and would cost quite a bit of money imo. The timing was so perfect that it would be hard to be as successful starting today.

TheStout 01-08-2014 02:06 PM

After travelling for a year (not sure if this is true but someone mentioned it earlier) I have a few travel questions;

1. Did you get bored after a certain amount of time? If so how long did it take?
2. How long did you stay at each place? What did you find to be the perfect stop over in a city you liked?
3. Did you work during your travels at all?
4. Did you travel solo? If not (assuming SO) did you two ever split up for any of the travel?
5. Favourite country overall?
6. Would you do it again or was it too much?

Thanks and sorry for the multiple questions.

Yes two boys 2 and 5. One of them is in school but we have so many half terms here it wasn't hard. We've never traveled non stop for a year. We go on one trip at a time from 1 to 3 weeks then come home. It's always nice to reset and get home and start eating better and start working out again :)

One thing I would recommend if you like traveling then travel before your kids are going to school. I really wish I had traveled more when they were younger. It's a little bit of a pain in the ass to be traveling at higher prices and busier times because everybody is taking trips at the same time.

Cake or Pie?

Do you miss being in the biz?

Hmm good question. I don't really have a bucket list of places to visit. There are a few places I'd like to go to...

Singapore
Hong Kong
South Africa
Anywhere really awesome in Asia. I don't know much about the best places to visit but have heard from so many people that love going there.
Australia and New Zealand
Necker Island (just because LOL)

Many of my questions are useless now that I read this. I was under the impressions you travelled straight for a year. Something I have been interested in doing.

Cake.

I really missed it when I watched Wolf of Wall Street. Gave me some good ideas of some fun I could have had with my staff.

It's a love / hate miss. I always loved the creative side of the business. I love making money. I hate the bs side that really takes over as things grow. HR, accounting, legal shit etc.

Sure why not, which country is your favourite to visit (any time frame not just last year). Add in favourite city (does not have to be from your favourite country if thats the case).

Thanks

Serious question for an industry veteran: If my site (see sig) were yours, what would you change/add/remove to improve upon it?

***you did say site feedback***

Ok checking it out now I'll need a little feedback from you to help out.

- Why made you start the site?
- Who is your competition?
- How are you better than them?
- How are they better than you?
- What can you do/offer that they can not?

I love Dubai but i don't trust what goes on behind the scenes. Great place to visit but not to live.

Maldives was nice for super high end getaway. Don't go during rainy season.

South of France is a phenomenal place to visit. I highly recommend it. Quality of life, weather, scenery, enjoyment. It's phenomenal.

Tenerife is a great spot for europeans to visit. Really enjoy going there. Lots to do, great weather, great climate. Awesome place.

All my big trips now are family trips so what I'm looking for is a lot different that what others may be looking for. For example Tenerife is awesome because they have an amazing water park (which isn't too busy) and a volcano that is just awesome to visit.

One thing I've realized is the most important thing wherever you visit is to try to do memorable experiences. If you just go to Dubai you may not like it the way i did. But if you go there and go on a 4x4 dune safari, go indoor skydiving, go to the waterparks or ferrari world etc you'll have a much more enjoyable time. The experiences are what make a place memorable and amazing and they usually aren't unique to that place but being on a vacation gives you a great reason to do it :winkwink:

1. I can't answer that. But enough that it convinced me to sell and low enough that they've made good money on the deal :winkwink:

2. Was a past board moderator I had on bigbreastlovers that was upset I shutdown that board because it got out of control. He held a grudge and was really pissed at me. I can't remember if it was before or after I sold but I finally got fed up of the situation and went through all my files and finally found his email address. I emailed him and apologized and explained why I had to do what I did and everything was better, i think.

3. That's such a hard question. I really really like Tony Morgan. I've had the pleasure to hang out with him a number of times and I've always enjoyed it. I had all of my business with Swiftwill when I sold and was very happy with the service I received. I think both are good choices.

Sorry you are the first guy that nails me with questions I don't fully answer.

I think a business model that provides a unique and interactive experience for your customer.

Customers are hard to come by. Having those two things going for your product will increase your changes of keeping customer imo.

There are aspects of having employees that I miss and some that I don't miss at all. I don't miss HR issues and headaches that can come from them. But I do miss the team camaraderie that we had. The fun that we had. My long walks with mpahlca :winkwink: We had a good team and we had a good time. I miss that.

I LOVE making money. I definitely miss that.

I'm an old timer i guess you could say. Started in 1997. Had link sites, had circle jerks, had a few big tgps. Probably my two most popular sites were Twistys.com and GayTube.com
