Tony didn't compete in yesterday's race but he did put a driver in his car for the day so for the team it was "business as usual"

People who watch this series like clockwork would know how common that is, or isn't. I dunno. Never liked Stewart much as a driver because he's a notorious hothead who needs a day or two to calm down after a stubbed toe.

you ever turn a corner in the mud? if you do it without giving it gas you end up in the wall..

For those interested there is a great commentary about the sensationalism of this incident from the media here.

Yeah I'm pretty familiar with sprint car racing, the track, the berm, the drift, etc, etc, etc. Just saying what an eye witness said. It's a local track for me, and local news.

All accidents wouldn't have happened "if only.."

There are a lot of points that could be speculated but it's all pointless.

do i really have to explain the point of my post? I guess I do. It was incredible cold-hearted, insensitive and callous to make that claim when they did.

yup! This whole thing is BS! If you haven't ever seen a sprint car race in person you would have no idea what you are seeing on a youtube video.. Sprint cars have been drifting kings decades before there was a word for drifting..

From the video you can't tell for sure if it's his engine that you hear rev up cause it is on the other side of the track and there were cars not in this picture that were right in front of this guy taping it.. Also if he wanted to get away from this guy walking in front of him he would need to gas it to get his car to move up or down on the "clay" track

On the dirt is a totally different game from asphalt and these sprint cars are very heavy and are easily tipped over on their sides.

I consider NASCAR drivers and "pro" race car drivers as drug addicts. They are addicted to the adrenaline rush of driving fast and facing death on a regular basis. They are the same, in my mind, as bungee jumpers, sky divers, mountain climbers and anyone who gets off on their own chemicals inside their own brains which can only be released under high stress or life-threatening situations.

Therefore: I have absolutely ZERO empathy or sympathy for one of these drug addicts when something goes wrong and they die from their own addictions. The fact that these drug addict/drivers cannot STOP racing even when they are not racing (they have it 'in their blood', proving my points) makes them sad in my eyes. The fact that they profit from their addictions (which also puts other drug addicts at risk) and the fact that businesses have monetized this addiction (ads on cars etc) does not make this 'activity' a 'sport'. Seek help Tony (and every other NASCAR driver).

PS: here's a fucking idea dude. DON'T WALK ON THE FUCKING TRACK. Splat!

Hell, they even tell you to stay in the car when your bumper car crashes

I do feel bad for all involved.
It is very sad indeed.

Or stand off to the side. We had a guy locally here, his car broke down in a busy intersection early morning just as its getting daylight. Standing beside the car a school bus came along and rear ended him. Killed him instantly. Rear half of car flat as a pancake.

Well, the news today is that the investigators have recommended this case go to a grand jury to determine if there will be charges. They could have dismissed it saying it was just a terrible accident, but they didn't. Wow, what could be compelling enough to go forward?
