I'm sorry you feel that way but as an immigrant myself who has lived in Scotland for close to 14 years, has not collected a red cent in state handouts, has paid taxes, bought a house and contributed to the country I live in; I feel I have every right to vote.

But what do I know, I'm just an immigrant .....

RazorSharpe 09-19-2014 01:40 AM

I'm not usually a political person so I've never voted prior to yesterday. What struck me as odd, and perhaps people here can explain this ...

Why do they make you use a pencil??

So, when a country invades another country, brings its citizens in to the acquired lands, installs slavery when natives should work for invaders for peanuts (so the invaders won't lie when they say they "have not collected a red cent in state handouts, have paid taxes, bought a house and contributed to the country they live in") - is it fair that the invaders have the same rights in voting if the country they've been exploiting should be free or not? Is it really fair?

Well, probably it's fair, as independence is taken by blood and war, not by polls.

Are you likening me living in Scotland to an invasion? WOW, I've never thought about it like that before ....

Just for the record, I don't have slaves. You'll need to talk to MaDalton about slaves ....

It was just an exaggeration to illustrate that it is not is that simple even if an invader does all the things you mentioned in your post.
England occupied the Scotland by an invasion though. It was ages ago but i's still true.

A small difference between an invading force and me though ... I asked for permission to stay here. Obviously people will have different opinions and that's healthy. All I'm saying is that if any country accepts an immigrant and that immigrant has properly integrated into society without being a burden to the state, then that immigrant should have the same rights. As my adopted country, what happens here affects me too.

Basques wont, they dont really want it. They now have the political party they want in power in the region. The Basques are shrewd fuckers.

A perfect example of the Basques. They knew of America 100 years before Columbus, they just kept their mouths shut as the sea off Newfoundland was full of cod. So they decided to keep quiet and fish it without competition.

They also have the best automony deal in Spain, far better than Cataluņa, they control pretty much everything themsleves. That's why the Catalans get all pissy and throw their toys out the pram.

The only time they may be interested in creating 'The Basque Country' would be if they could also include the French part, and that ain't gonna happen.

How far you want to go back.. The Scottish also invaded England.. many times, over 100's of years. The Union did not come about through invasion.

I'm all for having a positive mental attitude but the sheer arrogance of some of the determined 'YES' voters and campaigners over the past few weeks is making me laugh today.

Who needs time travel when Europeans have proven over and over for a thousand years that living in the past is possible despite the laws of physics which say it's impossible!

I don't think that non citizens could vote then... Unless you mean immigrants that are citizens already.
This case was different because there is no citizenship of Scotland so that is why they tried this trick.

*ooops* wrong thread

Oops! Sorry mate! I retract my statement about MaDalton and slaves. He doesn't know about slaves, he hasn't seen slaves, in fact, he cannot even spell slaves. :)
