The best advice I can give is to work you way towards eventually being your own boss. When you find another job, start your own business on the site, build it up and eventually quit your job.

This thread made me remember a lovely story: several years ago, around this time of the year [late nov/early dec] I was just managing the paperwork for an employee I had to say farewell to, and at the gov office I met a guy I knew a little bit - he told me a very similar story of how he was getting fired [however he worked 3+ years at his company]. I gave him my number to call me if he needs some work & $$$ before xmas. A few days later he called me, started to work together. This colleague of mine is Still at my company [hired him officially after a few weeks] and he is my right hand since. I love him and grateful for the fate which made us meet accidentally back then in that government office.. :pimp
The cherry on the top is that this guy introduced me both of my other employees, and this totally made an end of the struggle of looking for good, reliable colleagues. We are the same crew of 4 for years now... :pimp

Funny but i have similar story.Back then when i was opening my caffe bar,i hired a woman to be bartender but she escaped first day already(she found other job in the meantime)so i went to city to do something and met an old friend which needed job,and i needed bartender and asked him can he come to work tomorrow and he did.It was a funny coincidence.But unfortunately it didn't ended good as in your story :)

I can imagine how that must feel. I've been there just about this same time of the year too. Hang in there. This is all about finding out how strong you are, not about a job. After this, you will feel better about yourself which in my opinion quite priceless.

I did my own "scientific research " on it and i am quite sure how karma does not exist in any way.
Usually people think when someone who was arrogant fuck and he slips how he was hit by karma,but in reality it is simply result of not paying attention.A perfect example of that is my neighbor who was untouchable politician till he accidentally killed two Hungarians on road and as result had to go to jail and abandon his position of being first vice president of government.And after that was even kicked out of his political party where he was president before going to jail.So,if he was paying attention on road he would be still arrogant fuck and being untouchable politician,and now he is suddenly "humble" man after getting out of jail.
