Stop it! That miniature is too cute.

Mine are all pets. I just bought my first "backyard" beef from my youngest daughters riding instructor. It's really good, but I'm having a hard time swallowing it because I saw the cow twice a week for several months. I find myself constantly having to think hard about other stuff while I am eating it so I don't remember the cow that licked my face!

I just get eggs from my chickens but I'm considering raising meat birds as well. I'm really trying to stay away from commercial meat.

Your aunt might get more money if she sells on craigslist. I paid 950.00 for a 1/4 cow. I don't know what they go for at auction or where she lives and how the price affects it. I ended up paying 4.00 per lb for the beef and then .65 per lb for the butcher to package it into what I wanted. I think this is for sure the way to go for people who don't want the nonsense in their meat.

That is why they sell all the cattle at auction. Hard to raise and care for them and then eat them. Do you think that's a recent phenomenon since the film "Born Free" humanized animals? Or does it have more to do with us living in the era of convenience?

Those organic, free range chickens are expensive around here. I don't know if I would want to butcher them myself though. You know the phrase "running around like a chicken with it's head cut off"?

I don't know anything about their finances. Uncle keeps that to himself. $4.65 a pound sounds like a good price for retail beef. Better quality of life for the animal. And it probably averages out to about the same price as mass produced beef.

My chickens are not organic because I don't feed them organic food. For the most part they are free range but sometimes the hawks come and they have to get locked up for a bit. Especially in the winter since there is no real cover for them to get under. The meat birds you only raise for 7 weeks, they are a glutton for food and would be separate from my "pet" birds so I can't see myself getting at all attached.

I'm sure I wouldn't have an issue having someone come once a month to prepare them. I'm positive my friends would buy the chicken, just not sure I wanna deal with all that.

I do this all on my own. My husband can't stand all these animals. So, if your wife loves them she may be a keeper!

It sounds like you have enough work to do already. I might be biased though. I didn't grow up on a farm and learn to work hard all day. My aunt married a guy with a family farm. I grew up in the city and learned that working hard was for suckers.

Do I have to take the husband if I give you the wife? How about the wife for your goat?

I actually grew up in the city. When I started this business I was in the basement (typical porn nerd right?) of a quickly declining neighborhood in Philadelphia barely able to pay a bill. After a few years I bought my first horse and boarded at a city stable then a second horse and moved them a little more out of the city, and then a 3rd horse. The $900.00 a month board bill for the 3 horses was actually more than my rent was.

Then I found 10 acres in jersey, had a modular house built and moved the heck out of there. I am stuck here for one more year by custody agreement for the 17 year old.

Since you're OFFERING to take the husband, you can...you don't have to keep him, just drop him off somewhere by the mountains he will be happy.

What exactly do you want to do with my goat? :Oh crap

10 acres sounds nice. Are you wanting to move?

I don't want the husband. Unless... what services does it provide? Actually, I wouldn't mind going into the mountains for a few weeks. Is he a survivalist or will I need to pack food?

I will use the goat to get hot chicks close enough to photograph. :winkwink:

Wtf why didn't I think of using the goat! Sometimes men are just so much smarter than women. :1orglaugh

I do want to move. I'm scoping spots. I have one friend who I don't want to leave and that is kind of limiting me to the east coast. If it weren't for her, I'd be somewhere far probably. This place is not my home!

The husband actually does quite a lot in the spring/summer months, not much in the winter other than taking care of the kid and house. He cleans good, and keeps the yard mowed! Has a bit of OCD.

You know exactly how to stroke my ego. Social engineer! :1orglaugh I'm going to use that phrase all the time now.

Would you stay in NJ or go somewhere else?

A little OCD is good for getting things done. I could always use a maid and landscaper. But it sounds like you don't have any sons to take over his duties. So, you probably need him more than I do.

I will not stay in NJ!!! I will move to PA, VA, NY or somewhere on the east coast most likely.

But anywhere is possible. That's the beautiful part about working from home isn't it?

makeabuck 01-17-2015 07:05 PM

btw you can pick up a landscaper for the day for 80.00 at the local dollar store here. For 40.00 more dollars he will bring his wife to clean your house. =)

That it is. Great not to be tied down because of a job.

Hmm.. I should look into that. Does he eat more than $300 worth of food per month?

He could live on ramen if he had to.

No, they're just because I like horses but don't ride much so makes sense to get the little ones. One is mine, and one I bought for my middle child for Christmas hoping it will give us something to do together. Usually it's just me and the little one who are the farm girls around here.

But how can you not love them. It's the best lunch break a girl can get.

SmutGiant 01-18-2015 12:41 PM

This is not specific to the adult industry. When you're rich, you have it easy. When you're broke nobody cares about you.

People don't notice the years of "process" in takes to reach those goals, they only notice the "event" or the manifestation.

Psh I don't use any of that crap. I only talk to people on the internet via gfy and a few random trollboxes.

Don't act like you're not interested in what the new gal has to say. :winkwink:

Cute picture. I love that the horse closed its eyes for the hug.

many things are just a matter of luck. at the end of the day you just need to be happy with your self and what you are doing.
