Religious freedom! This has exactly WHAT to do with religion? Sell not ye flowers to thine cock holstering brethren?

The words the republican lawmakers use in their letters to drum up support is shit like "Why should a florist be PUNISHED because of their beliefs" .. Punished! Serving a paying customer... PUNISHED!

I'm glad my state has already banned any paid travel to that backwards preservation of long dead ideals.

But would a gay person force someone to serve them if they didn't want to?

As a single Gay father that's raised his 21 year old heterosexual son since birth I'm still a bit shocked when I see this mentality expressed.

I can stand next to my son at a counter and be denied service, while he is not.

I would force them to serve me. YES.

The funniest part is how yelp says they don't offer any catering at all. Memories Pizza - CLOSED - Walkerton, IN | Yelp

Holly Lez! 04-02-2015 10:11 AM

one of my favorite Yelp reviews:

I was confused as to why they offered sausage, beef, bacon and pepperoni as toppings; as the Bible explicitly forbids it (Exodus 23:19, Exodus 34:26 and Deuteronomy 14:21), but I should expect hypocrisy from a business like this.

it had occurred to me the timing of the canceled catering was more than conveniently aligned with the passing of the legislation.

.

As a skeptic, my feeling is this place was on the brink of going under anyways and they thought they'd get some publicity by "being the 1st", knowing they'd probably get slaughtered in the media...cue the gofundme account that earned more than some shitty pizza place nobody even knew existed before this all happened.

You're probably right about that.

Didn't it all start with a woman saying she wouldn't cater a gay wedding? They wouldn't cater a straight wedding either because they don't do catering. Now they're getting more than the business was worth in donations.

No, wait. I meant to say that gofundme is owned by yngwie.

Jokes on you. They cashed in because of the interwebs :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

They made more money in 3 days being closed than they would net in 3 years.

How are business owners in Indiana determining someone's sexual preference? Is there a test?

Yeah, the test is pretty simple. If the bride and groom are the same sex the discriminators won't take their money.

No idea. All I know about this topic is the pizza thing.

Maybe they'll judge based on appearance. Soon, we'll have to stop wearing skinny jeans to get service.

I was watching the news yesterday and they had a couple of people on to debate this.

One guys said something to the effect of, "If a person who is gay walks into a bakery and wants to buy a doughnut or cupcake we will sell it to them, but if they want me to make a cake and deliver it that has a topper featuring two men on it, I can't do that."

To me it sounded like they were perfectly find with taking their money so long as they didn't realize they were doing so.

up to $295,803 now and by the time I finish typing it will prolly be $300k! This is a small town of 2,000 people. This is prolly more money then she would make in 10 years. Looks like this bigot will get the last laugh :disgust

I find it fairly ironic that some here on this board of all places blindly give support to a law like this. This is a porn forum is it not? Do you supporters of this not think that businesses would also choose not to do business with you if they found out you do porn?

I realize you guys are blindly supporting it because your favorite political team is in support of it so you want to support your team and whine about liberals, gays and blacks.. However just think how nice it will be when all banks could deny your service due to your profession. We already see a bit of that today.

Do you really think it's smart to support this kind of religious fanaticism when you are in the adult industry?

Exactly! I live in this fucked up state of Indiana and I would never openly tell a bank or anyone that I wished to do biz with what I do for a living.

Don't worry dude. Everyone will forget where the anti-gay pizza people were from soon.

How come the business can't discriminate while hiring? I don't understand why they'd be allowed to discriminate against customers but not employees.

L-Pink 04-02-2015 05:22 PM

What's really funny is the whole premise is based on 2 gay guys actually catering pizza for their wedding.

Look I'm not claiming this is a simple issue and that I can explain it. What I am saying is religious freedom is the very first personal rights amendment and certainly that means something.

FYI BO voted for the first rfra back when Clinton pushed it through when he eras president.

Not to mention

There was no catering planned. The owner simply stated she wouldn't cater a gay wedding.

It seems like they didn't even offer catering. I wish I thought of it first. I can't believe the amount of donations they're getting.

Oh I'm with you. I'm on my mobile and can't type like I want. It is hard for me to make sense of to o. I can see both sides. But I do believe that the bill of rights is potentially being neglected here. That's a skippering slope.

They are free to practice religion in any way they want but it's not a shield for discrimination, otherwise we would be right back to segregation because people would start claiming it's against their religious beliefs to serve Blacks, Asian.. White.. ect..ect.. This isn't just a anti gay issue.. If they get away with discriminating against gay people the list will go on and on..

This is going to end up costing IL a lot of jobs in the long run. The biggest tech employer (Salesforce) in the state has stated they are halting any expansion and will scale back their operations in the state as well as give money to help any of their employees whom want to leave the state.

I image the gays show up making demands, while loudly proclaiming the proclivities...what I've just read is they are demanding cakes that say "I support gay marriage" .... :2 cents:

The bakery doesn't have to agree with what's written on the cake. What if a straight couple wants a cake claiming they support gay marriage?
