Macular Degeneration isn't diabetes related it's more age-related

Quote:

Macular degeneration, often age-related macular degeneration (AMD or ARMD), is a medical condition that usually affects older adults and results in a loss of vision in the center of the visual field (the macula) because of damage to the retina. It occurs in "dry" and "wet" forms. It is a major cause of blindness and visual impairment in older adults (>50 years), afflicting 30-50 million people globally.[1] Macular degeneration can make it difficult or impossible to read or recognize faces, although enough peripheral vision remains to allow other activities of daily life.
It causes you to lose vision in the center of your field of view, my mother has had it for 25 years, she was diagnosed at age 59 and her ophthalmologist told her " If there's anything you want to see in this world, do it now."
This is a version of what she sees, hers is worse than this though. she can only see a little bit around the edges.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...mal_vision.jpg
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...generation.jpg

There is no treatment as of right now but I was diagnosed a bit earlier than she was, I just have to take a vitamin formula that has been shown to slow the degeneration down a bit, but good news there's an experimental stem-cell treatment that's being tested now and my mom is going to be part of that study, all they promise is the treatment won't make her worse and the tests have shown that it may actually make it better.

I told her to not fuck things up for me. :winkwink:

So I have a little bit of hope that I won't end up dependent like she is.

So let's update your statement.... You call Mark a pussy because he chooses not to ride a motorcycle. Being as you choose to ride a motorcycle.... what does that make you?

This seems to be a thread about someone calling himself a pussy. (But you are right, a trike is not a motorcycle.)

I'm sorry, but I just find this so funny. You call Mark a pussy because he decides not to ride a motorcycle, yet here you are telling us you choose not to ride a motorcycle. I had a motorcycle, I choose not to ride; Does that make me a pussy? Does that make all men who decide not to ride a motorcycle a pussy? Is a riding a motorcycle a requirement for being a man?

dyna mo 06-15-2015 01:58 PM

rochard, you're not being taken seriously. i call ********** a pussy because he's a troll and i troll him back, the simple fact you're too obtuse to have realized that after a year of my pointing out his trolling is another example of why you aren't taken seriously.

and don't fucking update my statement that ********** chooses wtfever, you nitwit, if you want to make a fucking point about something i've stated here, then have the fucking balls to search it down and fucking quote here, don't make shit up just to try and support your bullshit because that's not at all what i stated.

To those with diabetes in this thread:

Is your condition caused by current or past poor diet and exercise or something else? Genetics?

I generally hear diabetes as a problem for thos e that are overweight with poor diet. that's why im asking. Not to be a smart ass.

i have type 1, it is an autoimmune disease. easy version: my immune system attacked my pancreas and killed it. :error

medical science doesn't yet understand why this happens. it is not weight related or diet related and there isn't any real proof of a genetic link. type 2 diabetes is not autoimmune, i am not as familiar with it.

oh yeah, and people like whp attribute type 1 to vaccines.

Working on getting the garage as we speak, right now I have an apt near the beach overlooking PCH, waiting to hear about a place up the road a bit that has a garage.

For me it was kind of inevitable, both my parents diagnosed type II later in life and at least one aunt who's a lifelong type I (and 91 years old and still living alone and driving her car every day) I didn't help my odds by carrying an extra 25-30 pounds around for most of my life. Combination of extra weight and a genetic predisposition.

Daughter is staying with me right now. I don't change tires. There is a great place down the street called MCtires and they change your tire fast and pretty cheap. I like them because I roll in without a reservation and roll out with bright white white walls. They replace the rubber strip and tubes and I never have a problem. They've been there for decades.

Besides, looking at getting a MC Table lift! Maybe I'll give you a call when I'm doing some fun stuff on the bikes and you can come out and get your hands dirty?

I am sorry you have medical issues, and sorry you are unable to ride.

I used to ride motorcycles daily, and the day I bought my Mustang Cobra was the last day I rode. Not sure why, six months later I sold my bike and I have no desire to ride again.

Good luck with your health.

that's a nice thing to write Rochard and I appreciate it. I know you like to troll a bit here and that's why i fuck with you the way i do. no hard feelings. but no need to be sorry for me, we all have issues of some kind. drive whatcha brung is my view on that and that usually makes for more fun anyways.

LOL, I think I have about 8 crescent wrenches hanging on the wall, don't use them very often. I have been buying some more metric stuff for the bikes. I'll let you know when I'm going to something major and fun!

I also said this AFTER you called me a Pussy that could never ride motor cycles in the first place, and AFTER you started fights with several others in the same thread.

You said you were riding for 32 years. That puts you near around 50 years old, right? Isn't it time you grew up?

Is a Trike not "manly" enough for you? Does the number of wheels on your bike define who you are as a man somehow? It wouldn't define me at all. So now who's the pussy again?

You CHOOSE not to ride motorcycles, something that you love, because your medicine condition might cause you to have an accident if you get an adrenaline rush. That's too bad.

So why not ride Trikes instead? Wouldn't you keep your adrenaline lower, especially if you ease off the accelerator a little, and be able to enjoy doing something that you love?

I get it. You're backed into a corner for shit you started, and you won't admit it to anyone here, or to yourself.

I'll break it down for you old friend. You went out of your way in that other thread to call me a pussy for no reason. In fact, you called me a pussy for making the exact same decision as you did. You can't admit it. You can't be a man and apologize. I get it.

I asked you what - 5 times now - what you do in adult to justify your corner of GFY. You can't. I think its because you do nothing at all.

You can't answer these questions the same way you can't tell the truth to people here, the same way you can't admit when you're wrong, and the same way as when you are caught.

A part of any health discussion or argument, is being able to make your point of course, but then admitting when you're wrong. You can't.

You are shit.

Peace.

dyna mo 06-15-2015 04:57 PM

I apologize for calling you a pussy for not being able to ride a bike **********.
