I could go with either the URSA or the URSA mini but having ND built in would be sweet.

Their 4.6k chip looks very interesting! Word is still out on low light native ISO however which is what has stopped me from buying any BM Design Cameras so far.

My question is, really there are so many users having screens on their computers or laptops that fully capture this format? and besides today that everybody is looking porn from their mobile devices??

except NaughtyAmerica who frequently update with 4K videos, other big brands do not. (Bangbros, Brazzers and all Mingueek sites, etc...)

and they are precisely average companies who are asking their producers for do the scenes in 4K. Why?

if I or some of my cameramans invest in a good 4K camera we need to shoot a whole year to amortize the video camera, or at least try to do about 30-40 shoots and make not less than 300 euros of profit per shoot.

and then maybe the 5K format appear and they ask me for do the shoots in 5K camera LOL

Users of 4k will be high end users at this point. Demographic to be high paying customers. Charge for it. give them what they want and transcode to lower formats for everyone else.
It will change in the future but make more for the extra you do now.
It may very well mean higher speed editor equipment. 4K is huge in size and not many can digest that in short order.
Lots a luck.
You can't notice the difference between 3k and 5k on a 2d screen under 30".

Some pretty inexpensive editors can handle 4k video, although they can only output to HD. Sony Vegas Movie Studio Plantinum ($79) is one. This lets you shoot in 4k for the future, but pretty easily work in HD. I'm not sure, but most likely the edit file could be opened by their higher end product that does 4k (Vegas Pro, $399) if you later want to render to 4k.

So bottom line is content producers are shooting in 4K to 'future proof' their content (cover their ass) but no paysite owners have chimed in saying they make more money or more sales with 4k over traditional HD. Got it.

OK so the decision is easy: when I start MAKING MONEY from 4K I will shoot more in 4K. Til then? Suck it. LOL

Yes! Do that :2 cents:

I wish all my competitors agreed with you :thumbsup

I've been shooting 4k since July of last year, once I got my hands on a couple of Panny GH4's. Full upgrade to my editing as well. At the time I offered 4K to the handful of clients that were buying from indie shooters and a small price increase. None wanted to pay for it, in fact most around that time asked for a decrease in cost.

On the flip side, corporate leads...small businesses and agency's all started to look for 4K and with the budget and more work. That was the end of me shooting for adult other than for my own projects.

Plenty of inexpensive 4k options on the market these days, no reason for anyone not to make the leap even for hotel room POV shooters.

Thanks about the sig. I think it makes people think who are already reasonable. Nothing you can say or do affects the god fearing sheeple.

Now look at paysites, anyone not shooting HD is as good as a has been. Members almost demand HD quality content (depending on niche a bit of course).

4k will be as normal in a few as HD is right now.

:2 cents:

Exactly!!!!!

My phone (Note 4) has a resolution of 2560x1440.

I'm currently on the iMac 5k and using a 39" 4k monitor as a secondary display.

A year from now, people won't even be having this debate. It will be an obvious yes.

we shoot in 4k for 2 years now but manage to get a very good rendering only for one year. Our clients love it and we could not return on "simple" HD.

TheDA 06-22-2015 03:48 AM

It's all about future proofing. Besides, 4K smart TVs are becoming more and more affordable all the time.

I don't remember it being the standard, but maybe I was bias since I never liked 3D. But we're talking in terms of resolution; and the higher is always the better. :2 cents:

We originally shoot videos in 4k making very good source for rendering 1080p with a great quality and sharpness.
99% of customers are happy with FULL HD, and can't see the difference between FULL HD and 4k.

JustDaveXxx 06-22-2015 07:41 PM

Been shooting 4K 60p. I burn up 64 gigs in 11 minutes. I shoot up two 128 cards in one scene. The files are massive!

But the look is crazy crystal clear on a 4k monitor.

I shoot my HD on 2 different Canons, I shoot my 4k 60p on a Sony.

But I'm really waiting for the new Canon C300 mark 2 to come out in September. The 4k will be good, but the 15 stop dynamic range is crazy!

That camera is overkill for Porn, but I won't necessarily be shooting just porn with it. I got rentals and mainstream projects lined up for that camera.

I use 3 cameras weekly for 4 different clients. Everyone wants something diffrent. Need to provide what the clients want to get the project. At 1st it was a bit of getting used to using 3 different cameras with all of their quirks and sweet spots, but now: Hand me any camera and I can do just about anything with it.

One thing I have learned in 13 years of shooting porn and music vids is that: Cameras are cool and can cost you a lot depending on what you get, but spending the money on a good lighting kit and knowing how to use it has way more value in the long run. Always keep in mind; Lights and gaff gear are forever, cameras have a 3-4 years life span.

The above has been my experience.

A question for all of you content providers. How do you deliver the 4k files to your customers? Doesn't it take hours to upload and then download?

Are you asking about customers (IE Twistys.com) or end users?

End users can watch it streaming in broadband just fine. Youtube has 4k videos. (and 6k and 8k) :thumbsup

For my clients I can send them 500GB usb 3.0 hard drives which cost about $50 and will hold 3 or 4 scenes in full resolution.

My 3 year old PC setup can edit 4k raw no problem in premiere as well. :2 cents:

I was just wondering how you got the huge files to your customers. Mail, fedex, or download.

RR Productions 06-23-2015 05:54 PM

Hey, I don't deny that 4K maybe can be the future, but still long term, 3-4 years... Just curious I asked about that because as I said the place I live and work normally, there aren't any content producer, cameraman or company shooting in 4K. I tried to contact with all them asking for camera for to rent, or get cameraman. Just some of them have 4k GoPro than I don't need for now.

This is third world... I know, is not like Porn Valley or Budapest, but right now in Spain there are more US porn companies shooting daily than on typical euro porn places Budapest & Prague. I see the US company Pornpros is shooting sometimes in Barcelona in 4K, but the producer I think is a foreign guy coming there and go back to his country. I mean about spanish people like myself living there and working for several companies around the world, mostly US. I remind, "all-powerful" Mindgeek or Bangbros are not updating and shooting 4K...
