Bailed on it, the plot moving at the speed of continental drift was too painfull

Alice22 07-29-2015 02:31 PM

The first session was better in my opinion, more intelligent and special.

But it's getting better now...

ReggieDurango 07-29-2015 08:49 PM

I hope to see more insane Colin Farrell, glimpses of which we got in the season's first episode.

Just having a hard time getting into this one. The characters feel forced.

I really agree with this. Vince Vaughn sometimes says things that are just too dramatic and seem like he's trying too hard. Doesn't seem natural.

With that being said, the last episode was freaking money. The first scene with Frank and Falcoro sitting across the table from eachother, both wielding guns under the table... that was intense.

I actually thought last night's episode was quite good!

It has picked up some steam recently. Hopefully they can wrap it all up in a satisfying way.

Hard to top season one

bronco67 08-03-2015 04:43 PM

Compared to last season, it's shit. But that's a high bar to reach.

If you think about it, there really was nowhere else to go but down. Despite the bad dialogue and hammy acting, I'm kind of digging it and want to see where it goes.

and I'm enjoying Rachel McAdams in her skin tight jeans.

badgirlfilms 08-03-2015 05:02 PM

boring as fuck

Agreed. Season 1 set such a high bar there was almost no way for this season to live up to it. I almost feel like season 1 was a fit of inspiration and season 2 is just struggling to "be like" season 1.

That said, I am enjoying it and those jeans are always a welcome sight.

bronco67 08-03-2015 07:48 PM

That was a good episode. Just one good scene after another.

If the show finishes strong, then all else is forgiven.

dannyz-zbuckz 08-04-2015 12:16 AM

The season started out slow but really picked up these last 2 episodes and looks like it's going to go out with a bang. If you gave up early, you should give it another shot. I personally can't wait for the finale, I think it's going to kick some ass. And I actually think this is by far the best work Vaughn has done since Swingers. :thumbsup

Anybody gets those moments when main characters talk about conspiracy and who was involved and you do not remember which name belongs to who?
Like "john did that, peter covered it blah blah and you think - remind me which one is john and which one is peter.

stoka 08-04-2015 05:17 AM

^ yea, too many characters, one needs to pin photos on board to catch who's who and stuff

About to watch the season finale - will it suck or will it TOTALLY redeem itself???

ReggieDurango 08-10-2015 01:37 AM

Nope, not a satisfying end at all

I was pretty disappointed by the ending as well.

I was trying to remember who Len was. In the last half hour, I had no idea what the fuck was going on, but it didn't stop me from enjoying it.

Not a great ending, but I'd have to say I'm not sorry I watched. That's not a glowing review, but even mediocre HBO stuff is better than almost anything else. I think maybe Nick Pizzolatto should ask for 2 years to create the next season, if there's going to be one. Take 5 years to do it, as long as it's good.

CaptainHowdy 08-10-2015 04:17 PM

What a trite ending ...

I hated to see Vince and Colin die! But I didn't hate it ENOUGH for it to be an effective or good tv show!
