I think it was MaxCash in 98 or 99 when I was building review sites.
Soon after that I started SEO for some adult companies.

Might have been Maxcash, or ARS, Flashcash, or even Oliver Klozov for all I know. I added more than a dozen programs my first year in, any one of them could have been the one that sent that first check. Hard to recall more details on it, as that first one wasn't all that big, maybe thirty-five bucks. But all the ones that followed, ahh, now those were memorable.

It's the journey I remember most though; link trading with Slick and Minte, submitting to Tommy's, Greenguy's, PK's, Snake'sworld, theHun, Shemp, Thumbzilla, ELEPHANTLIST, Dr Bizarro, hundreds of others. The late 90's. Great times, insane money.

Oddly enough, when I got the check I looked at the address and it was just a few blocks away in Livermore, California.... In fact, it was a few doors down from where my wife worked at the time. A short time later Tanker, who worked at ICS at the time, contacted me and offered me a job at ICS. Ironically I told him "There is no money to be made i porn". Four years later we hired Tanker to work at Lightspeed Cash, and of course years later I ended up as General Manager of ICS when Playboy bought them out.

Back in '99 - originally our first site was free (with free hosting from GoCasino) - but our images were already well-known before we launched (our stuff was seeded all over Usenet newsgroups)...so traffic went crazy right from the start and we exceeded the 2gB/day bandwidth limitation of the hosting within the first week.

We also had high-profile guest galleries on Red's Realm, EveEllis...and a bunch of other larger bdsm/fetish sites at the time.

So we switched to paid hosting and converted the site to a paysite. If memory serves, our first sale came through overnight while we slept. Within a week or two the sales were constant and we couldn't believe the signups pouring in.

Those were the days (sigh)...
