Unfortunately for Muslims...it IS Muslim terrorists who have declared "jihad" worldwide.

Can he pass the laws required without asking anyone else?

I agree with you about immigration, the EU has gone insane by allowing free passage and benefits for EU citizens and allowing all the migrants from the Third World in, to wander around Europe.

The problem for him in the US is like here, getting it through Government.

I'm not an expert, but as I understand it the President can indeed call for a travel ban by executive order.
President Jimmy Carter did it with Iran during the hostage crisis.

I think the State Dept. can do it as well (under the auspices of the President). For instance U.S. citizens weren't "allowed" to travel to Cuba all these years and vice-versa.

But "no" the President can not "pass laws" all by himself (as Pres. Obama has found out).

Trump would be able to do the travel ban (but he would have to make a list of countries...it would still be a travel ban on Muslims, but worded differently).

But only Congress can pass bills.
And then the President signs them and they become the law.

One of the good things, in my opinion, of Obama's presidency has been that the govt. hasn't been able to pass as many new laws because of gridlock.

We have so many federal laws that you can't even find an exact number when you google it. Apparently nobody even knows!

Go ahead...google up the number of federal laws in the U.S. , there are so many that there is no definitive answer. lol

I'm happy when Congress is NOT making new laws. How many fucking laws do people really need? It's ridiculous.

It doesn't take a genius to act like an idiot.

i believe your observation on this matter is not accurate. for example, no other republican proposes a trade war with china. He also opposes cutting medicare. No other republican proposed a blanket ban of all muslims, & they all denounced his position even though their own are light weight versions of the same. his opponents are hypocrites & cowards, while he alone has the courage to take unpopular positions to solve a problem.

He is running AGAINST the establishment of the party. the club for growth, the kochs, hate him. this unprincipled boorish asshole simply decides to run as a republican, & literally sucks the air out of 13 other candidates, no wonder the establishment loathes him. He has to threaten to run as in independent in order to prevent them from hijacking the convention.

All of this makes him different from the other republican candidates, & why is leading republican polls by 20 points. Why can't left of center thinkers see his genius? too fogged out by PC i presume.

:)

He has flirted with it for 3 election cycles.
In the fall of 1999, Trump quit the Republican Party ?? ??I really believe the Republicans are just too crazy right,? was his quote.
So he was going to run as a Independent but chose not to. ??He??s a Hitler lover, I guess he??s an anti-Semite,? he said of Independent Pat Buchanan on Meet the Press. ??He doesn??t like the blacks, he doesn??t like the gays.?

If you can't beat them... join them... seems to be his thinking.

:)

I believe Jeb Bush proposed saving the Christians (and nobody else) just before Trumps upsetting words.

Use different words and nobody cares but you get little/no attention for it.

Right now they are looking for anything to bash him with. Including playing with poll numbers.
He is upsetting the bought and paid for machine. Nobody owns him (yet).

Trump only exemplifies modern politics in a non-apologetic way.

If he is still leading after the votes, the party will find a way to replace him with John Kasich at the convention because that is what the quite hidden money wants.

OK. Now all he has to do is watch as Congress blocks him over and over again. If their backers disagree.

As for too many laws, no idea about that. Bureaucrats like to make laws, one Obama failed to make was to get health care out of the grip of big business. Limiting people on no-fly lists and "known to the security services" from being able to buy guns.

Yes, just like all President's do.

And some President's (G.W. Bush, Clinton, Reagan, etc.) figure out ways to negotiate with Congress and get deals done with them.
Others (like Obama, Bush Sr., Carter) don't have that particular skill set.

Trump does indeed have that skill set. More so than any politician in Washington. He lives in a world of tough negotiations, and thrives in it.

When you step back and look at it with no emotion or political bias in either direction...Trump appears to have all the tools to work with Congress despite the rhetoric being tossed around by the Republicans and Democrats during the election season.

How many seats did the Left win?

The problem is the centre right are going to have to do more to limit who enters France, or they will lose more voters to the party that does.
