The entire local economy has been suffering since the 80's. There are some factories left, but for the most part, they have packed up and opened up plants in Mexico and ship in parts from overseas. Robotics have also advanced. The jobs are gone. Neighborhoods have turned into mostly ghost towns with squatters, crack houses and just plain homes that are falling apart. This is not the fault of Democrats like Spermbonzo is suggesting. |

Since the late 1960s through the end of the 20th century, Flint has suffered from disinvestment, deindustrialization, depopulation and urban decay, as well as high rates of crime, unemployment and poverty. Initially, this took the form of "white flight" that afflicted many urban industrialized American towns and cities. Given Flint's role in the automotive industry, this decline was exacerbated by the 1973 oil crisis and the U.S. auto industry's subsequent loss of market share to imports. The 80's were just the final nail in the coffin, no matter how much Asshat Moore tries to rewrite history |

wait, don't go away, you were regaling us all with your wild astronaut stories about the worlds and offering to wipe the shit off our asses. |

Then came the 80's and the layoffs. Its was pretty much adapt or die then. Factories were closed and bulldozed. People either found something else to do or they moved. Most of which was the later. All of the things you mentioned did not happen until then. |

You are in a fucking thread about Flint dropping names and pointing fingers at Obama, the Epa and Democrats, and I don't have the time to sit and decipher your fucking babbles. If that makes you feel superior that I don't see any other point for you being here, then so fucking be it. You and Dyna can go fuck each other up the ass and share stories about how super intelligent you both are. Dyna has a really cool story he would like to share with you about a.... i'm glad you're still here asstronugget, i have my morning shit coming up, stand by.....

That water looks like bottled piss but Flint Michigan seemed like a ghost-town 25 years ago when Michael Moore was filming Roger & Me so it's surprised me there is anyone left there.

I think what is happening in Flint with it's water supply is horrible. I don't care about the history of Flint; At the end of the their city government made some bad choices that resulted in a lot of young children being poisoned which will have a huge effect on them for the rest of their lives. I think at a certain point this is a criminal act, and people should be charged and sent to prison. At the same time, our government needs to take action. This should be done at the state level, but if needed, the federal government should step in.
This is nothing short of massive miscarriage of justice. |

This is one story in the news that you got completely wrong from start to finish. Astro was right on everything, you were wrong on everything. And like you always do, you devolve into the name-calling of a ten year-old. |

All doubt was removed with the way you responded. You got exactly what it was you were looking for. :321GFY |

but you know what else **********? i'm also very happy to be much more open-minded and tolerant of others that you will ever be. sure, i call you and your buttbuddies names that a 10 year old would, you are a dumbfuckwad. anyone that has hung out at GFY for a while knows it's a time honored tradition to name call here. but unlike you, i've never used someone's medical condition as a weapon against them in a GFY disagreement, or any disagreement for that matter. like you have with me, many times. |

The manufacturers left because laws were changed that allowed them to operate cheaper in Mexico. There was a huge exodus in the 80's and since then they have been trickling away ever since. This past fall came news of even more plants that will be going to Mexico. Why would unions want to lose their jobs? |
here's some more shit i'm wrong about and astranaut's right about
"Not only is the Detroit region the birthplace of the automotive industry, it currently produces more cars and trucks than any other state in the country. In 2011, more than 1.9 million cars and trucks rolled off Michigan assembly lines â?? over 1.5 million at assembly plants located in the Detroit region. The state is home to 12 original equipment manufacturer (OEM) assembly plants and 35 OEM component plants. Including suppliers, there are nearly 1,300 automotive-related manufacturing establishments in Michigan." The Auto Industry in Michigan | Detroit Regional Chamber apologies for being wrong on everything in here, **********, please reveal a medical condition you have so i can be right and insult you for it, i would like to do the right thing here, get on track being right. you know. republicans bad people. kill guns. fuck the Constitution, spread videos of girls being humiliated and insult people's health. you know, all the right things you do. |
Quote:
You lie constantly, and you cry constantly. All I did was question you about a medical condition that would stop you from riding motorcycles which you claim you love, yet not stop you from climbing on your roof to install solar panels. You on the other hand used the name of murdered children just to make a joke. Tell me, you fucking asshole - what kind of sick twisted piece of shit would do that? You, that's who. |
Quote:
i used the name of murdered children to make a joke? you're a fucking lying joke. post the fucking link to it dumbfuckwad. i could go on. why bother, as astronaut likes to say. |
it's completely hysterical to watch markpuss call me names for, yup, name calling.
that's just part of why he's a dumbfuckwad. another part is he uses people's medical conditions as weapons against them. |

I was "looking for" was a reasonable discussion of the issues with a reasonable person, in this case Mark Prince. I had no intention of getting involved in the ridiculous name calling back and forth crap that was going on in the rest of this thread. Personally I've been a registered libertarian for years, and I am disgusted by both Dem's and Reps. As for talking about Obama, I was pointing out ADDITIONAL things that have gone wrong in this situation, not excusing the local and state republicans. Why would pointing out ALL of the people involved in screwing this up be the wrong thing to do? This is the problem with blind party loyalty IMHO. If anyone says anything about the actual people responsible, and they happen to be on "your team", then party hacks like you go nuts, to defend things that they would find horrible if committed by "the other team" Sorry that you are so sensitive about about online debating, but trust me, I won't lose any sleep or even get my blood pressure up over what some person online types in a forum. My life is good, my family is healthy, and I love my friends. This online debate stuff is pretty damn low on my list of priorities!:1orglaugh:1orglaugh Have a coke and a smile. Losing your mind because someone expresses an opinion will make your life miserable and short. . |
