RIP Candidate Trump.

He lost in the Bible Thumper state by a few thousand votes to the head Bible Thumper Ted Cruz.

It's all over for Trump now. RIP

Trump currently has about a 21 point lead over Cruz and others in New Hampshire. If Cruz or Rubio mount a major comeback and beat Trump in New Hampire he is probably done, but it is going to be pretty difficult for either of those two to mount that kind of comeback in the 8 days they have.

That in fact means everything. They once again chose the same type of candidate. Trump just barely edged by the establishment candidate. What this means is that this race just went conventional and in an conventional/real world a President Trump is not going to happen. Trump will win New Hampshire but all that matters is who drops out, where those votes go and how Rubio does. This was a bad night for the Trumpers. :thumbsup

You seem to be so happy! :thumbsup

Yeah! Let's get an insane religious nut like Rubio or Cruz and then watch Hillary continue to implode leading to one of those guys getting into the White House! :thumbsup

And cheer for the business guy who isn't a religious nut losing! :thumbsup

Hello Presidents Rubio and Cruz! Welcome to the new Theocracy Of The United States! :thumbsup

There is often a huge difference between a voting state and a caucus state.

I am happy. Someone was going to win and I think it was the best outcome. I believe that Trump is a joke that has gone on way too long. He is a disgusting individual who hates and has exposed a sad looking side of the U.S. If I squint really hard I see what you see in him. I get the revolution part of it. I just don't buy it. I am sure on most things we aren't that far off. I just despise that dude. You believe in the other parts of who he is, the change, the anti-establishment. Fair enough. That is fine.

Cruz won't win and it is no shock that he won there. Rubio will have a tough path because he can come acrossed as a bit green. What I think is going to happen is that Hilary or maybe Bernie will win. The GOP ignored their own report after 2012 and didn't make inroads with the demos they needed to. I think that the Democrats are doing good for the country. My 401k has been on fire. I like embracing social diversity, I am glad someone is stepping up to the gun issue in the States and having lived abroad the national healthcare issue is a no brainer. Obamacare needs to be evolved or replaced with something more nationally regulated, not less.

If the Republicans win, I will be bummed. I don't think they are good for society. However I will save on taxes that pay for things I don't use, moving money will be easier and as a straight, white dude living in Europe that doesn't use U.S. healthcare and is out of range of the nuttiest people on the planet in regards to firearms the Social issues don't effect me much. I will vote for what is right though against my own personal best interests. But, yes, I am glad to see Trump get dinged because I am sick of trying to explain him to people that think him running is a show. I want a better country and my experience has show me that he wasn't going to help us. :thumbsup

The funny part is that lots of people actually believe that :1orglaugh

Meanwhile, FOX News and Megyn Kelly in particular are saying it's because Trump skipped their last debate which is even funnier.

Stupid people vote for political establishment puppets. That's the reason a weak puppet like Cruz won.

Hard to beat decades of brainwashing.

I don't think it's all over for Trump. I think he will do much better in New Hampshire.

I also think Drump just learned his first real lesson in politics.

Do you or anyone else happen to know the point spread going into Iowa last week? I am wondering if Trump has "star appeal" on paper but it does't add up to real votes when people really go to vote.

Ted Cruz erased Trump's Iowa lead by spending millions on voter targeting | US news | The Guardian

The federally mandated release of expenditure filings on Sunday shows a crescendo of spending as well-funded campaigns and their allied Super Pacs bolster their digital firepower by pouring record amounts of cash into the so-called ??micro-targeting? of voters across social media with increasingly personal ads.

Cruz has deepened his ties to the little-known data analytics firm, Cambridge Analytica, directing around 20% of overall spending during the reporting period to the data scientists embedded at Cruz??s campaign headquarters in Houston.

In December, the Guardian uncovered long-standing privacy and ethical issues around the way Cambridge Analytica??s parent company had acquired detailed psychological data on tens of millions of voters using data harvested from largely unwitting Facebook users.

The last week the polls showed Cruz and Trump in a statistical tie. The day before the caucus there was one poll that showed Trump ahead by a few points, but for the most part they all had either Trump or Cruz ahead by a point or two so it was pretty close.

There was a high turnout, but it looks like Rubio was the one that benefited the most from that.

That's huge - and even more so considering he was expecting such a huge win.

How is 3.4 points huge and 1.2 (Trump over Rubio) just barely slipping?

other than the media spin, it is about delegates. Trump gathered 7 delegates, Cruz got 8. that's not huge. there are ~2500 republican delegates nationwide.
