I wouldn't go so far as to call it a "total lapse in judgement" but I will call it careless.
Our problem is the laws have't caught up with the technology. There is no law that says you cannot email or store classified information on a private server. The laws about this are very old and updated, and are mostly focused on giving out classified information to a foreign government or perhaps to the public at large. This was not her intention, nor was there any damage done. Her only intention was to do her job.
As for the "lies" she told.... That's pure bullshit. First off, we are talking about tens of thousands of emails - there is no way she could be sure of what was in those emails. And still you can argue about what was classified and what was not. It seems a lot of the emails weren't classified when they were sent, but were classified after the fact.
If this was a serious issue, and our government wanted to get to the bottom of it... They would have investigated EVERYONE who has used a private email server. But they didn't. The Republican party immediately turned around and demanded another investigation into Clinton, but no one else. Clearly their target is Clinton, and this is nothing more than a smear campaign.
The Republican party has failed. They tried to make Clinton look bad with Benghazi. It was a terrorist attack no one saw coming, that we couldn't stop, and that we couldn't respond to. Everyone knew there was no wrong doing BEFORE we started to investigate what happened. The Republican party tried to make her look bad, failed, and instead created the most vetted candidate ever.
