the apartments cost like 500$/square meter total to make with ALL costs included (land/permits/tax/credit/material) in that part of town...most of them were 50-60 square meters and this is the normal size for blue collar homes in 3rd world countries...so each apartment cost 25-30K$ total...he took out a 20year credit from the bank and it will be tax deductible for him for the next 20 years and it works out to like 250K/year...no newspaper is going to report this so there is no "link"...it is normal in my country for the company to give out apartments for its workers even under capitalism...

it will not crush the market if it is done gradually...give the leeches time to adapt...you are completely ignoring the massive positive effect it will have in the long run...you can repeat "it will crash the market" all you want but housing is not something that should be speculated with and it is very possible to gradually phase out predatory investing in housing...

you could also slowly start introducing free medicine...free college...have debt free citizens who have disposable income...this is what keeps an economy strong...

I'm all for cutting that down military spending and putting the money towards free college education...but no way in hell am I'm for the government giving away free houses to poor people. give the housing to families...people with jobs...many people are struggling but have normal jobs...the vast majority will not vandalize anything...

In the UK it costs anywhere from $150,000 to $300,000 to build a small house. The population is growing by 600,000 per year. So on the calculation of 4 people per home that mean it has to build 150,000 homes per year. At $33750,000,000 per year. Can the taxpayer afford to fund this?

The short answer is no. So they borrow the money and we only pay the interest. Great.

Until you realise that soon 50% of those people will be replaced by automation and out of a job. Or on minimum wages and need the government to support them.

Simpler solution. Filter migrants so only those with key skills or will offer employment or the money to self supp[ort are allowed in. Reduce all benefits for the third or more children born after a year from the starting date.

My niece got her masters a few years ago and now started a new job making 6 figures. Huge SJW. Guarantee she'll have a different outlook on life when she realizes 50% of her pay is being taken away and given to the poor lol
