This is not a war with porn but with all affiliate sites. porn gets by accident

not true - the affiliate sites with useful information for the user and a broad range of alternatives are doing MUCH better then before.

what are effected are this kind of sites what are just made to send a user to one specific product (20 years ago we called them doorwaypages).

so IF a site is only made for selling one specific product and google can see that in the searchkey WHY should they send a user first to an affiliate site? that does not make sense.

if you search for amazon would you want they show you 100 affiliate sites and hide amazon.com ???

or if you search for "buying an iphone" would you expect to be send to a site what sends you to the shopping site or would you expect to see the shopping site right away?

this update is not done yet and it will takes weeks (if not months) til it is complete.
and after it is complete you will see even more fluctuation because google announced that already 2 years ago that they are working on a "single page index" what means nothing else that you can own a domain with 100 k subpages and if only ONE is relevant only this one page will appear (before the complete domain did not appear in such a case).
and they announced also that they will react in near real time.
and that means that your page can be number 1 in the morning and a few hours later you will not find it anymore.

I am wondering why everybody is so surprised about what happens - google told us LONG BEFORE what they are planing to do.

I have a document from google what is deserved to their search qualitiy editors (they have hundreds up to thousands of them in each country) where they explain how to rate porn and erotic on a huge number of pages of this document . and there you can even see how difficult it is for them because the porn definition is different in every country.

I don't know if they are planning to do that (single page index etc), but THIS update is NOT IT

they are still lightyears away from that on all aspects, IF it is even possible, considering google has huge issues with differentiating original content vs copied and usually disregards the originality in favor of site power (backlinks and infamous "trust" score)

in layman's terms.. you can write a super original mega article but if New York post or such republishes it AS IS a month after you, they'll rank above you for your article title and such

I've seen that document too and it isn't all that problematic really

but regardless, algorithm and manual, they are doing a bad job in purging bad porn sites from top of serps

When their algorithm manages to penalize:
- insane amounts of ads
- traffic trading
- content scraping
- cloaking from googlebot

And when it actually starts to reward original content (first instance of it in index), then we will all have nice websites in mainstream and porn, with nice high quality stuff on them.

Until then...... we can only play a guessing game on wtf is their "core update" targeting.

lol...registration date on 15 January 2018, and i just checked ahrefs...this dude has 499 referring domains, and 13.9Million organic traffic.
But this is not the original site. The site moved from freepornxxx.name->mzansi.porn , and the first backlink discovered at 12 May 2017. Lots of irrelevant domains, even music related ,from a large variety of countries.

The algorithm is working absolutely wrong right now. One of my sites lost almost all visits from Google, but still doing well because its content is 100% unique. On the other hand, the first pages are occupied by tubes with low quality content. These are results that completely refute the theory of quality content and uniqueness. On the contrary-currently Google is too far away from that.

Someone wrote about Amazon. On several of my sites I notice visits based on the keyword Amazon, which is ridiculous.

This update is not anti porn it's just anti search. For example I searched for dental xray lab yesterday. The first 2 results were OK, but the third was for a hypermarket with a section of professional cameras. So Google isn't doing well even with normal, domestic searches right now

Selling traffic is one thing, and one way to view Google. But trying to sell an actual PRODUCT, or membership, via Google is an entirely different thing.

For a couple of weeks until Easter I was suddenly getting ridiculous amounts of Google traffic for wordpress tags, while the actual homepages were ignored. The last week it's slowly been going down, and yesterday there was a sudden big drop :(

BTW, do you think Google has different algorithms for adult? I mean actual 'quality' criteria algorithms and not just in trying to prevent adult results coming up in non-adult searches (which it appears to be doing heavy handedly these days).
